About Restoring Default Formatting

Illustrations used in this article are from OnePager Pro using data from Microsoft Project but the feature's function, controls, and manual edits apply equally to other OnePager editions that import from data sources like Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, and Oracle Primavera P6.

When you first create your OnePager chart, all of the task bars and milestone symbols adhere to the formatting settings that were established in the current Template Properties form being used to create the chart. As changes are made to the chart, you often change the format properties of task bars/milestone symbols so that they no longer adhere to the default formatting and inn so doing create task bar and milestone symbol mavericks.

Restoring the Default Formatting for a Task Bar/Milestone Symbol

To restore a task bar/milestone symbol to its default formatting, right-click on the task bar/milestone symbol to select it and access its right-click context menu. In the context menu accessed, click the Format… command to access the Change Task/Milestone Properties form. Accessing the Change Task/Milestone Properties form in this manner takes you to the form's Format tab as shown below:

Clicking the Use Format Defaults button at the bottom left of the form restores the selected task bar/milestone symbol to its default format properties.

Restoring Other Properties of Selected Task Bars/Milestone Symbols

Each tab on the Change Task/Milestone Properties form above has it's own Use xxxx Defaults button located in the bottom left corner of the form's tab where xxxx represents the property tab name in the form. For example, in the Task Label tab of the Change Task/Milestone Properties form, the xxxx is Label. In the Date tab, xxxx is Date-Label. Once you have access to the Change Task/Milestone Properties form for a selected task bar/milestone symbol, you can restore default format properties by using each of the form's tabs.

Restoring Other Properties of All Task Bars/Milestone Symbols

Additionally, if you desire to restore all default format properties to all task bars/milestone symbols you can use the following steps:

Go to the Home ribbon tool bar tab's Editing control group and click the Select all dropdown button. Then click the Tasks/Milestones command as shown here:

This action selects all task bars and milestone symbols in the chart. Next, right-click on any selected task bar/milestone symbol to access the task bar right-click context menu shown here:

Clicking the Format... command accesses the Change Task/Milestone Properties form shown above at the Format tab. Now, click the Use Format Defaults button which restores all the selected task bars/milestone symbols to their default format settings.

You can use any of the other tabs on the Change Task/Milestone Properties form to restore default format setting for those task bars/milestone symbol's format properties as well.

Restoring All Hidden Task Bar Name Labels

When multiple task bar name labels are hidden, they can all be unhidden by using the procedure steps from the previous section. Suppose we have a portion of a chart that has hidden task bar name labels as shown below:

P70-9 5 1-(4)-05182020.png

To efficiently restore these hidden task bar name labels first select all task bars/milestone symbols by using the Select all dropdown button on the Home ribbon tool bar tab's Edit control group as discussed above. Click on the Task/Milestones command in the dropdown to select all task bars/milestone symbols as shown below:

P70-9 5 1-(5)-05182020.png

With all task bars/milestone symbols selected, right-click on any one of the task bars/milestone symbols with a hidden task bar name label and click the Format... command as shown here:

P70-9 5 1-(6)-05182020.png

This action accesses the Change Task/Milestone Properties form at the Format tab so it is necessary to click on the Task Labels tab to access the Task Label property controls as shown below:

P70-9 5 1-(7)-05182020.png

As shown in the illustration above, you have the option to recheck the Show task/milestone label checkbox ON or click the Use Label Defaults button to restore all hidden task bar name labels in the chart. As a note, in the sequence of steps above, if you choose to click the Use Label Defaults button, your action restores all task bar name label properties to their default format settings. Rechecking the Show task/milestone label checkbox ON only restores the task bar name labels. When you click the OK button on the Change Task/Milestone Properties form, the chart displays all task bar name labels.
