This very busy chart has more than you normally put into one graph. However, to illustrate all the feature below we created this project view.

Not all elements in the list below are shown in the project view above to avoid clutter. (The red call-out text bubbles are not part of OnePager, of course, but are used to label the elements in the chart above to the list of elements below):

1) Swimlanes are defined as a set of contiguous rows, grouped together, sorted in sequence, and labeled in the left most column of the project view. Swimlanes can be manipulated in various ways (i.e., ordered and reordered, moved up or down, added, deleted, merged, split, hidden and unhidden, and created from existing rows).

2) Swimlane Labels are optional labels for each swimlane. Click this area to add or edit the label.

3) Swimlane Stripes are alternating swimlane background colors giving a horizontal stripe effect to the project view. (Not shown above.)

4) Rows are the lowest level of horizontal organization. Rows contain tasks and milestones and are always contained in a swimlane, even if the swimlane label column is hidden. Rows can be manipulated in ways similar to swimlanes: ordered and reordered, moved up and down (within and between swimlanes), added, deleted, hidden, and unhidden. Rows can be moved to different swimlanes.

5) Text Columns (previously known as row labels) are the text contained in a column or columns in the project view to the immediate right of the Swimlane Label column. There are up to five (5) Text Columns available.

6) Row Stripes are alternating row background colors giving a horizontal stripe effect to the project view.

7) The Corner is the upper left and lower left areas of the project view graph where the Row/Swimlane column headers and timeline axis unit labels reside.

8) Swimlane Header shares the same area (The Corner) as the timeline axis unit label. One or the other can be shown, but not both. When swimlanes labels are hidden, the swimlane header is not displayed. When a field is selected for the swimlane label from the Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plan, the swimlane label value is shown in the header. The swimlane header can be edited after the project view is created.

9) Row Header shares the same area (The Corner) as the timeline axis unit label. One or the other can be shown, but not both. When row labels are hidden, the row header is not displayed. When a field is selected for the row label from the Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plan, the row label value is shown in the header. The row header can be edited after the project view is created.

10) Time Axis is a set of tic marks and labels on the top or bottom of the graph (or both) showing the time divisions of the timeline. You can choose to have the divisions represent days, weeks, months, quarters, etc. You can specify calendar year or fiscal year formats and there are provisions for handling fiscal year starts mid-week. You can specify background colors for the time axes. You have the capability to re-order the three time axis levels, hide time axis levels and cells, and stretch or compress time axis level cells in any level. The timeline axis unit label, not shown in the diagram above, can be in either one of the corners (as defined above).

11) The Floating Time Axis is a new feature that replicates the any or all of the three time axis levels within a project view row. The Floating Time Axis is useful in project views that are vertically long or where it is appropriate to show time axis levels. After their creation, Floating Time Axes can be managed as rows in the project view.

12) Time Cursor is the optional vertical line showing the Snapshot date related to the timeline axes.

13) Tasks and Milestones are the main elements of your project plans that reside in rows. Task/milestones are provided in different shapes, colors, fill patterns, and borders. Additionally, task/milestones can be decorated with deadline shapes and endpoint shapes that are positioned by date information imported from your Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plan;.

a) Tasks are a colored Gantt bar that shows its start and end dates relative to the time axis.
b) Milestones are a colored symbol that represents a milestone. Milestones are positioned on the graph with respect to either their start or end date per your selection. You can choose to represent any task by a milestone symbol at its start or finish date. Additionally, OnePager can represent milestones that are 100 percent complete as filled in with the designated color and milestones that are not 100 percent complete as hollow milestone. As with tasks, milestones are available in various selected shapes, colors, fills, and borders. There are over a hundred milestone shapes available in OnePager.

14) Baseline Decorations are optional slightly-transparent shapes symbols showing the baseline schedule of a task or a milestone taken from data available in the source plan.

15) Percent-Complete is represented as a thermometer bar in the lower part of the Gantt task bar showing how much of the activity completed as of the snapshot date. This is shown as a yellow bar in the diagram above. Note that this bar does nothing more than represent the percent-complete field imported from Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plan. OnePager has the capability to honor non-working time when graphically representing percent complete.

16) Critical-Path Segments is the optional bar segments on the upper part of the Gantt task bar showing where the task's critical path intersects on the Gantt bar. This optional bar segment can take on any available color. By default, the typical color for the critical-path segment is red. Critical-path segments are not shown for Milestones. OnePager Express does not support the display of critical-path segments for either Tasks or Milestones.

17) Deadlines for task and milestones can be represented in the project view with deadline shapes. Deadline dates are taken from your deadline field imported from Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plan. Deadline shapes available are shared with milestone shapes in OnePager and have similar controllable properties.

18) Tasks can have up to four (4) Endpoints defined based upon imported date fields. Endpoint are not supported for Milestones in either OnePager Pro or Express.

a) By default, the following fields are assigned to the following Endpoints from Microsoft Project (Not shown above.):
  • Endpoint 1 Start Date.
  • Endpoint 2 Finish Date (Not shown above.).
  • Endpoint 3 Baseline Start Date (Not shown above.).
  • Endpoint 4 Baseline Finish Date (Not shown above.).
b) There are four (4) endpoints also defined for project views whose data are from Microsoft Excel. For these endpoints you must specifically define the field associations in the Template or Project-View Properties (PVP) form.

19) Comment Box are versatile text graphic element that let you attach additional information at one or more positions along any task or milestone. You can use the comment box to convey information about task/milestones, meetings, and phase gates that happen inside an extended time period. These comment boxes can change from snapshot to snapshot. Each comment box can have an optional anchor on the task/milestone (connected) that it is attached. Comment box borders and anchors can be transparent in which case only the content of the comment box is visible. Comment boxes can be re-positioned and resized by using conventional drag and drop mouse operations. Finally, the background color of a comment box can be selected.

20) Task Links are connecting line segments that show a relationships among tasks/milestones. Task Link information can be imported from your source plan and are called Data-driven Task Links. There are controls for setting the various properties of Task Links. You also have the capability to create Task Links after the project view is created - Manual Task Links, There is a short cut capability available for creating a set of connected manual Task Links in a fewer number of steps. This process is called Daisy Chaining Manual Task Links. Task links can be different colors, thicknesses, and can have associated text labels.

21) Curtain are top to bottom colored and labeled area on the project view that can be used to designate an important time period. Curtains can contain text labels. You can define any number of curtains and specify their start and end period dates. Additionally, curtains can be resized by using conventional drag and drop operations. In addition to being able to create and edit curtains from the OnePager ribbon's Insert tab, curtains can be created by selecting a time axis level cell and using its context menu commands to insert a curtain into the project view. There is an additionally capability under certain circumstances to show non-working times in the project view as curtains. Finally, curtains can be tracked, created, edited, and deleted from the Project-View Properties form's Time Axis tab's Format sub-tab.

22) Hover Box is a text box that appears and then later disappears when the mouse hovers over any task/milestone. This feature can be turned on and off from the project view's View tab. In addition to displaying task name and dates, it displays the unique identifier that lets you trace the task or milestone back to the row in your Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plan. (Not Shown Above)

23) Free Box is a text box similar to a Comment Box but not associated with tasks or milestones. The Free Box is created from the Insert tab on the OnePager ribbon and can be edited with respect to text content, background color, border properties, transparency, and size and position in the project view.

24) Legend Item is an entry describing one color/shape combination for a task/milestone in the project view. Right clicking the legend item or the color bar lets you change one color/shape combination for all affected tasks and milestones.

25) OnePager Ribbon consists of six (6) tabs titled: File, Home, Insert, Page Layout, Data, and View. Additionally, above the ribbon are the save file button and the undo/redo buttons not shown in the diagram above. (Not shown above.)

26) Project View Title is the descriptive title of the project view that you select.

27) Project View Filename is the name of the .TAM file in which the project view is stored and retrieved. (Not shown above)

28) Header/Footer Elements consist of up to six elements that are entered in the Project-View Properties (PVP) form. There are three (3) header elements and three (3) footer elements. All can be selected from attributes of your project view. The header/footer elements are accessible on the Template Properties and PVP form's Headers/Footers tab.

29) Snapshot Date is the date of the snapshot displayed in the current project view.

30) OnePager Editor Last Action is the last editing action taken by the Project View Editor (PVP).
