Overview

All OnePager editions (i.e., OnePager Pro, OnePager Express, and OnePager Bundle) give you two (2) main ways to edit your chart:

  • Globally, by changing settings and rules in the Template Properties form and/or Chart Properties form.
  • Manually, by editing and changing colors, fonts, and other formatting by hand in the Chart Editor.

For more information on Global editing, please see the article at: Editing with the Chart Properties form (Portal)

Here are some reasons to customize your chart through the Template Properties form and/or Chart Properties form instead of making changes by hand.

Speed

Changing settings through the Chart Properties form lets you change a large variety of settings at once. For example, if you want to change the font for all of your task bar labels, it’s much faster to change your default font once through Chart Properties form than it is to select task bars one at a time and change fonts individually.

Repeatability

When you change settings through Chart Properties form, those changes can eventually be made into a Template Properties form, making it easier to repeat the same formatting in other charts. Manual edits cannot be incorporated into a Template Properties form—ever! If you’re going to invest your time in getting your chart to look the way you want and you want to make that look and feel a standard, make sure that you can use those settings in the future by saving it as a Template Properties form.

Accuracy

The more manual-edits you make to a chart, the farther it gets from the reality of its associated Chart Properties form. Letting OnePager dynamically assign colors is always going to be accurate. On the other hand, if you are hand-painting colors in your OnePager chart, you’ll have to review each one of those colors for accuracy every time your project changes, which leaves room for errors. However, when it is not required to make edits that change settings and rules for all task bars and text labels, OnePager provides you with the tools to edit to individual items in the chart.
