Introduction to the OnePager Task Links
+
About the Main Tab
OnePager Pro and Express always supported the creation and showing of Task Links (previously called Event Links). The process for creating and editing Event Links was limited and totally manual. What was not previously possible was the capability to import Predecessors data from your Microsoft Project or Excel source plan and have OnePager produce a chart with these dependencies graphically displayed. The two illustrations below show a simple Microsoft Project source plan with Predecessors data and the OnePager Pro chart created with the corresponding Task Links:

The Chart Properties Main tab page, shown below, lets you set the most general properties of a chart.

Overview
+
Title
With OnePager Pro and Express you have the following enhanced capabilities.
+
The Title is the name of the chart that appears above the graph area. The information for the Title is taken from the OnePager choices form's Title of New Chart type in window as shown below:

Imported Task Link Data from Source Plans
Task Link information can be imported from both Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel source plans and made available for display and editing in the chart. Task Links imported from source plans are called Data-driven Task Links. When discussing Data-driven Task Link imported from Microsoft Project, the capability is also supported to import Data-driven Task Links from Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft Project Online.

For more information on the OnePager choices form, please see the article at: Getting Started (Portal)

Task Link Editing
+
Author
Task Link editing capabilities are expanded so that you have a greater variety of options for formatting Task Link arrow shapes, arrow sizes, connection line options, connection line corner radii, Task Link Dependency Types, and Vertical and Horizontal Anchor points on task/milestone shapes. Manual editing capabilities are also enhanced so you can perform drag and drop operations and edit the properties of any and all Task Links using enhanced Task Link formatting options.
+
The Author window is intended to hold the name of the person that appears in a Header or Hooter entry in the chart if desired. The default Author is Anonymous. To change the Author select the contents of the window and type in the desired Author's name.

Manual Task Links can be Daisy Chained, that is, you can select more than two task bars/milestone symbols and create a series (i.e., daisy chain) of manual Task Links connecting these task bars/milestone symbols. You have full control over Task Link formatting and which Task Links are shown or hidden in charts through the use of the new Task Links tabs on the Template and Chart Properties forms. There are Filtering control over showing (or hiding) Task Links provided in a new Task Links Filter Rules form. In a similar fashion to how OnePager assists you to manage hidden tasks, OnePager provides a Where Are My Links? form that lists Task Links specific to each snapshot and allows you to edit the show/hide status of any Task Link in a snapshot. You also have the capability to manually select a Task Link with a right-click and use task link right-click context menu to perform manual editing on the manual or Data-driven Task Link. You can perform enhanced editing of manual Task Link properties with the enhanced Task Link Properties form.
+
The Corner
OnePager Express is enhanced such that you can import Dependency values on tasks from Microsoft Excel source plans where the syntax format selection for specifying predecessor relationships corresponds to the Microsoft Project standards or the syntax format selection used by Oracle’s Primavera P6.
+
The Corner refers to the sub-control group used to designate the use of the upper left and lower left corners of the chart. The controls are shown below:

Task Links Based On Predecessor Data
+

+

OnePager Pro and Express are designed to process Task Links that are specified as Predecessors ONLY. Although OnePager does not import Successor data from your source plan, successor information is the inverse on predecessor information found in your source plan. This approach guaranties that all your Data-driven Task Links are based on valid information from your Microsoft Project source plan.
+
The lower left corner of the chart becomes available when you specify that the Time Axis is to be displayed on the bottom of the chart. These corners can be used to show the row/swimlane headings (e.g., text columns and swimlane level labels), the time axis unit labels, or neither.

Template Properties and Chart Properties Forms and Task Links
+
For more information, please see these two articles: Labeling the Corner for OnePager Pro and Labeling the Corner for OnePager Express

The Template Properties forms distributed with OnePager Pro and Express contain an enhanced Task Links tab with basic settings that can be tailored as needed. As with all Chart Properties tabs, the Task Links tab takes on the properties for Task Links based on the properties in the current Template Properties form. The properties in the Chart Properties form's Task Link tab can be edited at any time. Additionally, both Data-Driven and manual Task Links can be selected in the chart and edited individually.

+

+
+
The Time cursor, Inner Frame, and Outer Frame tabs have just the Line color, Line width, Dash type controls. The Set line properties form only sets the properties of these specific graphic elements.
+
+

About the Main Tab

The Chart Properties Main tab page, shown below, lets you set the most general properties of a chart.

P70-21 1 1-70-(1-1)-10132020.png

Each of these properties is discussed below organized by control group.

Main Control Group

Title

The Title is the name of the chart that appears above the graph area. The information for the Title is taken from the OnePager choices form's Title of New Chart type in window as shown below:

P70-21 1 1-70-(2)-10132020.png

For more information on the OnePager choices form, please see the article at: Getting Started (Portal)

Author

The Author window is intended to hold the name of the person that appears in a Header or Hooter entry in the chart if desired. The default Author is Anonymous. To change the Author select the contents of the window and type in the desired Author's name.

The Corner

The Corner refers to the sub-control group used to designate the use of the upper left and lower left corners of the chart. The controls are shown below:

P70-21 1 1-70-(3)-10132020.png

The lower left corner of the chart becomes available when you specify that the Time Axis is to be displayed on the bottom of the chart. These corners can be used to show the row/swimlane headings (e.g., text columns and swimlane level labels), the time axis unit labels, or neither.

For more information, please see these two articles: Labeling the Corner for OnePager Pro and Labeling the Corner for OnePager Express

Colors Control Group

The Color control group has three sub-groups:

 • For setting the default Palette used in the chart.
 • For establishing the properties of the Chart Background
 • For establishing the properties of the chart's Borders, frames, and the time-cursor.

Color Palettes

In the Palettes sub-control group, the Default palette: control allows you to set the default color from a dropdown list as shown below.

P70-21 1 1-70-(4)-10132020.png

OnePager provides a wide variety of color palettes. You can add more palettes, change palettes, or delete unwanted palettes. Clicking the Edit color palettes... button accesses the Palette Editor form shown below:

P70-21 1 1-70-(5)-10132020.png

This Palette Editor form allows you to edit a particular color palette. The File button on the form provides additional palette manipulation functions as shown below:

P70-21 1 1-70-(6)-10292019.png
<P70-21_1_1-70-(6)-10292019.png>

The Edit button provides controls for manipulating the colors in the palette as shown below:

P70-21 1 1-70-(7)-10292019.png
<P70-21_1_1-70-(7)-10292019.png>

For more information on the management and use of color and color palettes, please see the article at: Creating and Saving Color Palettes

Chart Background

Color 1 and Color 2

This control group, shown below, allows you to manage the chart's background colors and create various "zebra" striping highlights.

P70-21 1 1-70-(8)-10132020.png

To show a phasing or transition of color across the background, choose two colors to blend and choose the blending direction. Alternatively, you can choose to have a single-color background by setting Color 1 and Color 2 to the same color selection. Additionally, this group allows Zebra-striping of rows and swimlane levels.

For more information on Zebra-striping, please see the articles at:

Zebra Striping for Rows and Swimlanes for OnePager Pro Zebra Striping for Rows and Swimlanes for OnePager Express
Chart Fill Pattern

The Color fill pattern dropdown list provides the means for using Color 1 and/or Color 2 to create the desired flow of color within the graph area. There are up to nine (9) Color fill pattern options to select from as shown below:

P70-21 1 1-70-(8A)-10132020.png

The first five (5) options in the Color fill pattern list provide the means to use Color 1 and Color 2 in various ways across the graph area. The Row striping option uses Color 1 and Color 2 alternately from the bottom of the chart to the top to create row zebra striping as discussed above. The three swimlane stripes options for the Left#1, Left#2, and Left#3 swimlane levels also use Color 1 and Color 2 alternately from the bottom of the chart to the top to create swimlane level zebra striping as described above.
