Managing Templates for Version 5.3 (Portal) (P53-24_0_1-01152016)

The OnePager template specifies the initial appearance of each new project view. It is the template from which a new project view is created and from which all of the settings in the “Project-View Properties” form are initially populated.

A template is a great way to achieve standardization across projects and across people in your organization! If everyone starts with the same template, then the resulting project views will adhere to standards that make it much easier for your audiences to digest information.

The template is also the place where you have the largest number of Microsoft Project plan columns from which to import into OnePager.

See the section on “Other Columns Tab” at the following links: Template Only Features for Version 5.3 (OnePager Pro) and Template Only Features for Version 5.3 (OnePager Express) for more instructions on how to bring in additional Microsoft Project plan columns.

Accessing the OnePager Template

OnePager has two ways of accessing the “Template”, one for the Add-in application of OnePager Pro/Express and one for the Desktop application.

Accessing the OnePager Template from the Add-in Application

1) To view or edit the template from the OnePager Add-in application, click the “Templates…” button on the Microsoft Project tool bar for OnePager Pro or the Microsoft Excel tool bar for OnePager Express. The “Template…” button for OnePager Pro is shown below:

Accessing the OnePager Template from the Desktop Application

2) To view or edit the template from the OnePager Desktop application requires a couple of steps as described below:

a) Launch OnePager Pro or Excel from the desktop Icon. This action brings up the “OnePager Start” form which you should ignore for now.
b) Next, click the “File” tab on the OnePager ribbon and the Project View Editor screen and then the “Options” tab so the screen will appear like this:

c) Clicking the “Template” button as shown above will bring up the “Template Properties” form for editing as illustrated below:

3) Illustrated above are the steps for accessing the “Template” associated with the OnePager Pro desktop application. The same steps are used to access the OnePager Express desktop application’s “Template”.

Customizing the OnePager Template

1) You can customize a template to have yourproject views start out with a common look and use a standard set of Microsoft Project columns. For OnePager Express this also applies to Microsoft Excel columns.

2) The first two links below are to articles concerning template only features for OnePager Pro and Express specifically deal with the “Template Properties” form’s “Main” Tab, “Advanced” Tab, and “Other Column’s” Tab. The remaining links below provide specific information on using OnePager Pro’s “Enterprise Custom Fields” feature, column splitting and parsing for both products, and how to manage the current template.
