About Restoring Default Formatting

1) When you first create your OnePager chart, all of the task shapes and milestone shapes adhere to the formatting settings that were established in the current Template form you are using.

2) As you make changes to your chart, you often change the format properties of tasks/milestone shapes so that they no longer adhere to this default formatting. In so doing, you are creating mavericks.

Restoring the Default Formatting for a Task/Milestone

1) To restore a task/milestone shape to its default formatting, right click the task/milestone shape.

a) In the context menu accessed click the Format… command to access the Change Task/Milestone Properties form.
b) Accessing the Change Task/Milestone Properties form in this manner takes you to the form's Format tab as shown below:

P70-9_5_1-70-(1)-06242019.png
c) Clicking the Use Format Defaults button at the bottom left of the form restores the selected task/milestone shape to its default properties.

Restoring Other Properties of Selected Tasks/Milestones

2) Each tab on the Change Task/Milestone Properties form above has it's own Use xxxx Defaults button located in the bottom left corner of the form's tab where xxxx represents the property tab name in the form.

3) For example, in the Task Label tab of the Change Task/Milestone Properties form, the xxxx is Label. In the Date tab, xxxx is Date-Label.

4) Once you have access to the Change Task/Milestone Properties form for a selected task/milestone shape, you can restore default properties by using each of the form's tabs.

Restoring Other Properties of All Tasks/Milestones

5) Additionally, if you desire to restore all default properties to all task/milestone shapes you can use the following steps:

a) Go to the Home tab's Editing group and click the Select all dropdown button. Then click the Tasks/Milestones command as shown here:
File:P70-9 5 1-70-(2)-06242019.png
P70-9_5_1-70-(2)-06242019.png
b) This action selects all task and milestone shapes in the chart.
c) Next, right-click on any selected task/milestone shape to access the context menu shown here:

P70-9_5_1-70-(3)-06242019.png
d) Clicking the Format... command accesses the Change Task/Milestone Properties form shown above at the Format tab.
e) Now, click the Use Format Defaults button which restores all the selected task/milestone shapes to their default settings.
f) You can use any of the other tabs on the Change Task/Milestone Properties form to restore default setting for those task/milestone shape's properties as well.

Restoring All Hidden Text Labels

6) When multiple text labels are hidden in the chart they can all be restored by using the procedure steps from the previous section as follows:

a) Suppose we have a portion of a chart that has hidden text labels as shown below:
File:P70-9 5 1-70-(4)-06242019.png
P70-9_5_1-70-(4)-06242019.png
b) To efficiently restore these hidden text labels first select all task/milestone shapes by using the Select all dropdown button on the Home ribbon tab's Edit group as discussed above.
c) Click on the Task/Milestones command in the dropdown to select all task/milestone shapes as shown below:
File:P70-9 5 1-70-(5)-06242019.png
P70-9_5_1-70-(5)-06242019.png
d) With all task/milestone shapes selected in the chart, right-click on any one of the task/milestone shapes with a hidden text label and click the Format... command as shown here:
File:P70-9 5 1-70-(6)-06242019.png
P70-9_5_1-70-(6)-06242019.png
e) This action accesses the Change Task/Milestone Properties form at the Format tab so it is necessary to click on the Task Labels tab to access the Task Label property controls as shown below:
File:P70-9 5 1-70-(7)-06242019.png
P70-9_5_1-70-(7)-06242019.png
f) As shown in the illustration above, you have the option to recheck the Show task/milestone label checkbox or click the Use Label Defaults button to restore all hidden text labels in the chart.
g) As a note, in the sequence of steps above, if you choose to click the Use Label Defaults button your action restores all text label properties to their default settings. Rechecking the Show task/milestone label checkbox only restores the text label.
h) When you click the OK button on the Change Task/Milestone Properties form, the chart displays all text labels.
