==Introduction==

==Introduction==

Most OnePager users install either OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express into a '''user account''' for use with Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel, respectively.  OnePager Pro and Express operate in two modes: (1) The '''Add-in''' mode where OnePager is launched from “inside” Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel, or (2) The '''Standalone''' mode where either OnePager Pro or OnePager Express is launched from a '''desktop icon''', the '''Windows task-bar''', or '''Start-Menu shortcuts'''.
+
This article is focused on using the ''' Column Splitting''' feature with OnePager Bundle '''Standalone''' and '''imported''' Asana '''source plans'''.

Our new OnePager Bundle offers capabilities of OnePager Pro and OnePager Express in both the '''Add-in''' and '''Standalone '''modes.  With the capabilities of OnePager Bundle installed in a '''user account''' there is generally no need to have OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express also installed in the same '''user account'''.  Our recommendation to OnePager Bundle users, therefore, is to avoid having OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express installed in the same '''user account''' along with OnePager Bundle.
+
==About Splitting and Parsing Fields==

There are, however, possible situation where a '''user account''' needs to retain OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express but also needs the capabilities of OnePager Bundle.  For example, suppose the '''user account''' is operating with an '''older version''' of OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express but needs the latest editions of OnePager products available in OnePager BundleIt is possible to operate within a '''user account''' with all three OnePager products if steps are taken to manage which of the products are '''enabled''' in the '''Add-in '''mode.
+
The OnePager '''column splitting''' feature allows you to '''duplicate task bars''' when a task in your Asana '''source plan''' is assigned to '''multiple resources''' (or anything else)Because assignments from Asana often are '''comma-delimited''', this feature enables OnePager to '''parse the comma-delimited list''' and '''create a unique task bar''' for each instance in the '''comma-separated''' list.

This article explains how to manage the '''Add-in''' modes of OnePager Pro, OnePager Express, and OnePager Bundle within the same '''user account'''.
+
===Split Resource Names Example===

==Installing OnePager Bundle in a User Account with OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express==

Say you want to use '''color-codes''' on task bars/milestone symbols based upon your Asana '''source plan’s Assigned to''' column as shown below:

Suppose a '''user account''' has both OnePager Pro and OnePager Express installed in both the '''Add-in''' and '''Standalone '''modes and the need exists to install OnePager Bundle in this same '''user account'''. This can be done by simply following the installation process for OnePager Bundle as directed by the normal installation process for OnePager products.

Some of the entries in the '''Assigned to''' column consist of multiple, '''comma-separated''' items and some tasks only used one '''resource'''. Without the '''column splitting''' feature, a chart '''created''' from these data and assigned task bar/milestone symbol '''colors''' based upon the '''Assigned to''' column looks like this:

During the OnePager Bundle installation process you are asked to '''enable''' OnePager Bundle as an '''Add-in''' by clicking the '''Launch from my desktop or from MS Project/Excel '''radio button on the '''Installation options''' form shown below:
+
OnePager, in this case, treats the '''entire string''' as an individual '''Assigned to''' value.  To provide more flexibility in displaying task bars that have '''multiple resources''' assigned, OnePager supports the concept of a '''column splitting'''.  This feature recognizes '''comma-separated''' values in a '''designated column''' and '''creates a separate task bar''' for each of the '''comma-separated''' values.

To use this feature requires turning '''ON''' the feature in the Asana '''Template Properties''' form you intend to use to make the chart.  The setting must be turned '''ON''' before the chart is created so launch OnePager Bundle from the '''desktop icon''', click the '''NEW''' button on the '''OnePager Bundle Start''' form to access the '''OnePager choices''' form, '''select''' your Asana '''source plan''', and type in the chart's '''title''' as shown here:

Making the selection to launch OnePager Bundle in both the '''Add-in''' and '''Standalone '''modes as shown above produces the following results:

Clicking the '''Edit current template''' button accesses the current '''Template Properties''' form.  Navigate to the '''Field Mappings''' tab on the form, check the '''Enable splitting on:''' checkbox to '''ON''' and (in this example) select the '''Assigned To''' column from the dropdown list provided. The results are shown here:

:4) Using the '''double-left-click''' method on a '''.TAM''' or '''.TAT''' file launches OnePager Bundle in the '''Standalone '''mode since the OnePager Bundle product is the last product installed.

:5) If you select the '''Launch from my desktop only''' option in the '''Installation options''' form shown above, OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express are '''NOT disabled''' and remain available in '''Add-in '''mode for future use.  In other words, the actions described in items 1) and 2) above are '''NOT''' taken by OnePager Bundle.
+
Click the '''Save and use''' button to complete the process and close the current '''Template Properties''' form returning you to the second page of the '''OnePager choices''' form show above.

The resulting configuration of the '''user account''' based upon the actions taken in items 1) through 3) above are that OnePager Bundle is available in the '''Add-in '''and '''Standalone '''modes and OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express is available '''only''' in the '''Standalone '''mode.

If required in the future, it is possible to '''enable''' OnePager Pro and/or Express in the '''Add-in '''mode as long as you '''disable '''OnePager Bundle in the '''Add-in '''mode in Microsoft Project and/or Microsoft Excel.
+
In the chart with '''column splitting''' shown above, there are now several more task bars in the '''Chart Editor''' than there were before.  The task bar for '''Plate Movement''' is now '''split into two (2) separate task bars''', one for each of the '''two resources assigned'''.  The task bar for '''Centrifugal Barrier''' is now '''split into three (3) separate task bars''', one for each of the '''three resources''' that were assigned to this task in the Asana '''source plan'''.  Each of the '''resources''' has a unique '''color''' assigned.  Each of the '''resources''' appears by itself in the '''Legend'''.  The '''Legend title''' shows the '''column name''' that is used for '''splitting the columns'''.

Doing this requires that you access the '''COM Add-ins''' form for Microsoft Project and/or Microsoft Excel, '''disable''' OnePager Pro and/or OnePager Express, and assure that OnePager Bundle is '''enabled'''.
+
With this feature, you can use '''column splitting''' just like any other column by using the dropdowns in the '''Template Properties''' form or '''Chart Properties''' form to assign '''colors, highlight task bars and milestone symbols, and to define and label rows and swimlanes'''.

When both OnePager Pro and OnePager Express are '''un-installed''' OnePager Bundle remains the only entry in the Microsoft Project and/or Microsoft Express '''COM Add-ins '''forms.  However, under this scenario, it is necessary for you to '''enable''' OnePager Bundle in both Microsoft Project and/or Microsoft Excel in order to get the Microsoft Project and/or Microsoft Excel '''ADD-INS '''tab to show on the respective tool bar ribbons.

Introduction

This article is focused on using the Column Splitting feature with OnePager Bundle Standalone and imported Asana source plans.

About Splitting and Parsing Fields

The OnePager column splitting feature allows you to duplicate task bars when a task in your Asana source plan is assigned to multiple resources (or anything else). Because assignments from Asana often are comma-delimited, this feature enables OnePager to parse the comma-delimited list and create a unique task bar for each instance in the comma-separated list.

Split Resource Names Example

Say you want to use color-codes on task bars/milestone symbols based upon your Asana source plan’s Assigned to column as shown below:

P72-24_5_3-72-(1)-11022023.png

Some of the entries in the Assigned to column consist of multiple, comma-separated items and some tasks only used one resource. Without the column splitting feature, a chart created from these data and assigned task bar/milestone symbol colors based upon the Assigned to column looks like this:

OnePager, in this case, treats the entire string as an individual Assigned to value. To provide more flexibility in displaying task bars that have multiple resources assigned, OnePager supports the concept of a column splitting. This feature recognizes comma-separated values in a designated column and creates a separate task bar for each of the comma-separated values.

Enabling Splitting

To use this feature requires turning ON the feature in the Asana Template Properties form you intend to use to make the chart. The setting must be turned ON before the chart is created so launch OnePager Bundle from the desktop icon, click the NEW button on the OnePager Bundle Start form to access the OnePager choices form, select your Asana source plan, and type in the chart's title as shown here:

P72-24 5 3-72-(2A)-11022023.png
P72-24_5_3-72-(2A)-11022023.png

When you click the Next> button at the bottom of the form, OnePager accesses the second page of the OnePager choices form shown below:

P72-24 5 3-72-(2AA)-11022023.png
P72-24_5_3-72-(2AA)-11022023.png

Clicking the Edit current template button accesses the current Template Properties form. Navigate to the Field Mappings tab on the form, check the Enable splitting on: checkbox to ON and (in this example) select the Assigned To column from the dropdown list provided. The results are shown here:

Click the Save and use button to complete the process and close the current Template Properties form returning you to the second page of the OnePager choices form show above.

Split Resources in the Chart

Clicking the Create new chart button completes the process and creates the chart with the column splitting feature in use. The chart with splitting looks like this:

P72-24 5 3-72-(2)-11022023.png
P72-24_5_3-72-(2)-11022023.png

In the chart with column splitting shown above, there are now several more task bars in the Chart Editor than there were before. The task bar for Plate Movement is now split into two (2) separate task bars, one for each of the two resources assigned. The task bar for Centrifugal Barrier is now split into three (3) separate task bars, one for each of the three resources that were assigned to this task in the Asana source plan. Each of the resources has a unique color assigned. Each of the resources appears by itself in the Legend. The Legend title shows the column name that is used for splitting the columns.

With this feature, you can use column splitting just like any other column by using the dropdowns in the Template Properties form or Chart Properties form to assign colors, highlight task bars and milestone symbols, and to define and label rows and swimlanes.

Splitting Resources and Task Links

When task bars with Data-Driven or manual Task Links are split, the Task Links (Data-Driven and manual) are not shown. Further, the Task Links that are now hidden and do not have entries in the Where are My Links? form.
