Introduction
This article provides links to articles which cover the specifics on Creating new chart, Retrieving existing charts, and Saving charts.  Please use the links below as they apply to the OnePager products and operations you want to perform.
+
This article is focused on using the Column Splitting feature with OnePager Bundle Standalone and imported Asana source plans.

Creating NEW Charts
+
About Splitting and Parsing Fields
There are several ways to create NEW charts with OnePager Pro and OnePager Express.  OnePager is designed to support these two methods for creating NEW for each product:  (1) Push and (2) Pull Operations.
+
The OnePager column splitting feature allows you to duplicate task bars when a task in your Asana source plan is assigned to multiple resources (or anything else).  Because assignments from Asana often are comma-delimited, this feature enables OnePager to parse the comma-delimited list and create a unique task bar for each instance in the comma-separated list.

Pleases refer to the referenced articles below:

Some of the entries in the Assigned to column consist of multiple, comma-separated items and some tasks only used one resource.  Without the column splitting feature, a chart created from these data and assigned task bar/milestone symbol colors based upon the Assigned to column looks like this:

Retrieving a Chart (OPEN)
+
OnePager, in this case, treats the entire string as an individual Assigned to value.  To provide more flexibility in displaying task bars that have multiple resources assigned, OnePager supports the concept of a column splitting.  This feature recognizes comma-separated values in a designated column and creates a separate task bar for each of the comma-separated values.

Retrieving an existing chart to review it (OPEN), to edit, or to update it with new information from Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel is covered in the Getting Started (Portal) <!--3.0.1-70--> series of articles.  There are also several ways to OPEN existing charts with OnePager Pro and OnePager Express depending on the application used.
+
Enabling Splitting
Please refer to the referenced articles below:
+
To use this feature requires turning ON the feature in the Asana Template Properties form you intend to use to make the chart.  The setting must be turned ON before the chart is created so launch OnePager Bundle from the desktop icon, click the NEW button on the OnePager Bundle Start form to access the OnePager choices form, select your Asana source plan, and type in the chart's title as shown here:

(24.5.9-72)

The OnePager Data ribbon tool bar tab’s Selected file(s) button, shown below, is useful in verifying that you have the correct source plans associated with the open chart is/are correct.

+
Saving a Chart (Save)
+

+
When a chart is created, opened, or updated, as with other Microsoft Windows applications, the chart can be saved in four (4) ways:
+

+
Using the Save Icon
+

+
Above the OnePager tool bar and ribbon is a Save icon shown below:
+

+
<center></center>
+
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(2)-11272020.png</center>-->
+

+
When the Save icon is clicked, OnePager automatically saves the open chart in the .TAM file you named when the chart was first created (NEW).  If the chart has not yet been saved, you are prompted to create a .TAM file name for it.
+

+
Using File Tab's Save Button
+

+
A second way to save an open chart is to click the File tab as shown below:
+

+
<center></center>
+
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(3)-11272020.png</center>-->
+

+
If the .TAM was not previously saved, OnePager returns to the Chart Editor and opens the OnePager Save As form so you can create a name for the .TAM.  If the .TAM was previously saved using this method, OnePager again saves the .TAM under the previously created file name.
+

+
Prompting the Save Operation By Clicking the File Tab's Close Button
+

+
A third way to cause the chart to be saved is to click the Close tab shown above which is the typical Microsoft Windows method for closing the application.  If no changes were made to an open chart that was previously saved or opened from a named .TAM, the application is closed without re-saving the open .TAM.  However, if changes were made to the chart during the session, a Chronicle Graphics message form is displayed giving you the option to save the chart:
+

+
<center></center>
+
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(4)-11272020.png</center>-->
+

+
Prompting the Save Operation by Clicking the X in the Upper Right-Most Corner of the Chart Editor
+

+
Finally, you can always force the saving of the chart if changes were made by clicking the red highlighted X in the upper-most right corner of the Chart Editor.  Again, if no changes were made the application is close.  If changes were made to the chart, the above message is displayed with the options shown.
+

+
Saving a Chart to a New .TAM File (Save As)
+

+
At some point, you want to create one or more additional charts that show the same imported data in a different way.
+

+
2) For example, you want to assign colors based on a different source plan data fields.  Or you want to show critical path segments in one chart and not in another.  Please note Saving a chart as a new .TAM file is not the same as creating a Template.
+

+
For more information on using Templates, please see the article at: Managing Templates (Portal) <!--24.0.1-70-->
+

+
Using Save As
+

+
To create a new chart name and .TAM file from an existing one, go to the OnePager ribbon, click the File button that takes you to the screen below then click the Save as… command tab on the left.  This action accesses the Save As chart form as shown below:
+

+
<center></center>
+
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(5)-11272020.png</center>-->
+

+
Retrieving a Saved As File
+

+
Whenever you launch OnePager again and want to OPEN this file, it can be found by clicking the OPEN button in the OnePager Pro Start form, then clicking BROWSE FILES button and looking up the file in the Microsoft Windows Open form as shown below:
+

+
<center></center>
+
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(6-2)-11272020.png</center>-->
+

+
Selecting the file with a single left click and then clicking the Open button loads the file.

Introduction

This article is focused on using the Column Splitting feature with OnePager Bundle Standalone and imported Asana source plans.

About Splitting and Parsing Fields

The OnePager column splitting feature allows you to duplicate task bars when a task in your Asana source plan is assigned to multiple resources (or anything else). Because assignments from Asana often are comma-delimited, this feature enables OnePager to parse the comma-delimited list and create a unique task bar for each instance in the comma-separated list.

Split Resource Names Example

Say you want to use color-codes on task bars/milestone symbols based upon your Asana source plan’s Assigned to column as shown below:

P72-24 5 3-72-(1)-11022023.png
P72-24_5_3-72-(1)-11022023.png

Some of the entries in the Assigned to column consist of multiple, comma-separated items and some tasks only used one resource. Without the column splitting feature, a chart created from these data and assigned task bar/milestone symbol colors based upon the Assigned to column looks like this:

P72-24 5 3-72-(5)-11272023.png
P72-24_5_3-72-(5)-11272023.png

OnePager, in this case, treats the entire string as an individual Assigned to value. To provide more flexibility in displaying task bars that have multiple resources assigned, OnePager supports the concept of a column splitting. This feature recognizes comma-separated values in a designated column and creates a separate task bar for each of the comma-separated values.

Enabling Splitting

To use this feature requires turning ON the feature in the Asana Template Properties form you intend to use to make the chart. The setting must be turned ON before the chart is created so launch OnePager Bundle from the desktop icon, click the NEW button on the OnePager Bundle Start form to access the OnePager choices form, select your Asana source plan, and type in the chart's title as shown here:

P72-24 5 3-72-(2A)-11022023.png
P72-24_5_3-72-(2A)-11022023.png

When you click the Next> button at the bottom of the form, OnePager accesses the second page of the OnePager choices form shown below:

P72-24 5 3-72-(2AA)-11022023.png
P72-24_5_3-72-(2AA)-11022023.png

Clicking the Edit current template button accesses the current Template Properties form. Navigate to the Field Mappings tab on the form, check the Enable splitting on: checkbox to ON and (in this example) select the Assigned To column from the dropdown list provided. The results are shown here:

Split Resources in the Chart

Clicking the Create new chart button completes the process and creates the chart with the column splitting feature in use. The chart with splitting looks like this:

In the chart with column splitting shown above, there are now several more task bars in the Chart Editor than there were before. The task bar for Plate Movement is now split into two (2) separate task bars, one for each of the two resources assigned. The task bar for Centrifugal Barrier is now split into three (3) separate task bars, one for each of the three resources that were assigned to this task in the Asana source plan. Each of the resources has a unique color assigned. Each of the resources appears by itself in the Legend. The Legend title shows the column name that is used for splitting the columns.

With this feature, you can use column splitting just like any other column by using the dropdowns in the Template Properties form or Chart Properties form to assign colors, highlight task bars and milestone symbols, and to define and label rows and swimlanes.

Splitting Resources and Task Links

When task bars with Data-Driven or manual Task Links are split, the Task Links (Data-Driven and manual) are not shown. Further, the Task Links that are now hidden and do not have entries in the Where are My Links? form.
