About Editing Deadlines
+
About Editing Endpoints
OnePager translates Deadlines from your Microsoft Excel source plan into deadline shapes in the graph to indicate the deadline date for a task bar/milestone symbolIn order to import deadline date information, your Microsoft Excel source plan must have a column header with a name similar to the word deadline. OnePager Express does its best to translate similar names to deadline date information and import this data.  You always have the option to specifically designate a Microsoft Excel column header name as your specific set of dates specifying deadlines. This option is available in the OnePager Express Template Properties and Chart Properties form at the Task Bars tab as is explained later in this article. To illustrate with a simple example, consider the Microsoft Excel source plan given below with three tasks containing Start and Finish dates, a deadline date, and a Flag with the header Show It set to Yes so that OnePager imports the data for all three tasks:
+
There are four (4) endpoints definable in OnePager for each task bar.  By definition, milestone symbols in OnePager do not have multiple endpoints. Accordingly, endpoints for milestone symbols are not supported and there is no decoration controls for endpoints in the Template Properties or Chart Properties form's Milestones tab.

<center></center>
+
For all practical purposes, the four possible endpoints (Endpoint1, Endpoint2, Endpoint3, and Endpoint4) can be thought of as additional deadline dates for task bars that can be defined to communicate related dates associated with the task bar. As an additional thought, you can consider the four endpoints as task-oriented milestones as they occupy the same row as their parent task bar.
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(1-1)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

When a simple chart is created from the source plan above and Deadlines are turned ON, the example chart looks like this:
+
The control and the behavior of all four endpoints are identical to that discussed for deadlines

+
For more information on Deadlines, please see the article at:  Deadlines for OnePager Pro <!--10.9.1-70-->
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(2)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

When deadlines are turned ON, they appear (by default) as red arrow shape in each task bar's row at the deadline date position with respect to the time axis. Above, deadline shapes that are not contained within their respective task bar are shown with back dash-dot connecting lines to illustrate the capability.
+
By convention and as a default, the initial association of Endpoints 1 through 4 are to Microsoft Project source plan fields is as follows:

Editing All Deadline Properties
+
:* Endpoint 1: Start Date.
 +
:* Endpoint 2: Finish Date.
 +
:* Endpoint 3: Baseline Start Date.
 +
:* Endpoint 4: Baseline Finish Date.

To display deadline dates in your charts you must first assure that the Microsoft Excel source plan has a Deadline field populated with valid dates. When deadline dates are present in the source plan they must first be turned ON as the default setting in most distributed Template Properties form is for deadlines to be turned OFF. To do this click the Chart Properties button on the OnePager Home tab to access the Chart Properties form. Next, navigate to the Chart Properties Task Bars tab and to the Task Bars Decoration control group. Check the Deadline markers checkbox ON to enable the Deadline Properties... button to the immediate right of the checkbox as shown below:
+
These default settings are contained in all distributed OnePager Pro Template Properties forms. Since controls are provided as described below whereby you can edit the endpoint association with Microsoft Project source plan fields, it is recommended that you establish your endpoint relationships to specific Microsoft Project date fields before creating the first chart.  This recommendation can be done by editing the Template Properties form you plan to use before launching OnePager Pro or after launching OnePager Pro by editing the Template Properties form using the access point in the OnePager choices (OPC) form described in the following section.

By default, deadlines are mapped to the Deadline date field in Microsoft Excel if that field is present as a column header.
+
For OnePager to properly display your endpoints, you must first define the endpoint field in Microsoft Project and map them to OnePager through the OnePager choices (OPC) form. A sample, Microsoft Project source plan is shown below with both deadline and endpoint definitions:

<!--<center>P70-10_11_1-(1)-06042020.png</center>-->

To edit the format of all deadlines, click the Deadline Properties... button, to access the Set deadline properties form shown below:
+
In the sample above, we see the typical task information with Flag20 used to signal OnePager which rows to import, the Microsoft Project Deadline field and four Date fields (Date1, Date2, Date3, and Date4) which are used to import information to OnePager representing Endpoints 1 through 4 respectively.

<center></center>

When the OnePager button is clicked on the Microsoft Project Add-ins tool bar tab and you click the NEW button on the OnePager Pro Start form, OnePager displays the first page of the OPC form as shown below:
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(4-1)-09222020.png</center>-->

Standard Basic Deadline Shape Controls
+
Clicking the Next> button with the Show field mappings checkbox checked ON accesses the second page of the OPC form shown below:

As stated previously, many of the controls in this group of the Set deadline properties form are standard. The deadline shapes available are the same as Milestone symbols found in the Milestones tab of the Template Properties and Chart Properties forms Likewise, the Fill patterns available are the same for task bars and milestone symbols also found on their respective tabs of the Template Properties and Chart Properties forms.

 +
<!--<center>P70-10_11_1-(3)-06042020.png</center>-->

The Height percentage control represents the percentage of the total task bar/milestone symbol's height itself, is covered elsewhere and behaves in a standard way.  The default Height percentage is 100%.
+
Clicking the Edit current template… button takes you to the Template Properties form. Navigate to the Task Bars tab and the Endpoints checkbox in the Task Bar Decorations control group of the form as shown below:

Similarly, the Transparency control for the deadline operates in the same way as transparency controls for other objects. The higher the value selected, the greater the transparency.  Conversely, the low the value selected, the more solid the deadline appears.

Editing All Endpoint Properties
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(5A)-09192019.png</center>-->

The Position of the deadline has a unique meaning.  Deadlines are always associated with a task bar/milestone symbol and can be to the left, within, or to the right of the task bar/milestone ssymbol itself depending on your Microsoft Excel source plan data for the task bar’s start, finish and deadline dates.  The position in this context is about where within the task bar/milestone symbol’s row area vertically the deadline should be placed. There are three (3) available positions for the placement of the deadline with respect to the task bar:
+
The Set endpoint properties form is a multi-endpoint form in that using this one form allows you to edit the properties of all four endpoint shapes available for display in the chart.

Clicking the Endpoint Properties... button accesses the Set endpoint properties form where the Choose endpoint dropdown is shown below allowing you the option to select to edit one of the four available endpoints:
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(5)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

The Use custom color checkbox can be checked ON when it is desired to select a color for the deadline other than the color for its parent task bar/milestone symbol.  When the Use custom color checkbox is checked ON, the Custom color dropdown is enabled. Clicking the dropdown button shows the standard Color Chooser form.

Showing Deadline Delays
+
In the illustration above, Endpoint 1 is shown edited with all its available elements turned ON. The above form is almost identical to the Set deadline properties form.  The difference is the Show this endpoint checkbox which refers to the dropdown menu shown above whereby you can select which endpoint to control. In effect, this form is four (4) forms in one allowing you to turn ON and OFF each individual endpoint and configure the properties of each endpoint separately. The illustration above covers up two important controls that need to be addressed. The Show this endpoint checkbox and the Field dropdown menu by which you tell OnePager which Microsoft Project source plan field is used for each particular endpoint. These controls are shown here:

The purpose of the display of Deadline Delays is to provide you with the capability to highlight deadlines that are missed as shown in the chart. When the Color-code delays checkbox is checked ON, OnePager uses the selected Delay color (determined by the selection of the delay color from the standard Color Chooser form) to show all deadlines that are missed:
+
<center></center>
 +
<!--<center>P70-10_11_1-(6)-06042020.png</center>-->

<center></center>
+
As necessary, repeat the above editing steps for Endpoint 2 through 4 as required such that when the endpoint data are imported into OnePager the endpoint shapes and other properties are unique.
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(8)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

The deadline delay feature follows this logic. The deadline is set to the selected Delay color if, for any deadline:
+
Saving the Current Template Properties Form
:* The Color-code delays checkbox is checked ON,
+
Now that the endpoints are defined with distinct properties for all task bars in our example, go back to the Template Properties form, click the Save and use button to get back to the second page of the OPC form. Then, click the Create new chart button and OnePager produces the following chart:
:* The deadline date is earlier than the current snapshot date,
+
:*  And the percent (%) complete for the parent task bar/milestone symbol is less than 100%.
+

If any of the conditions stated above are not met, the color of the deadline is set to the default color, unless a custom color is otherwise specified.
+

 +
<!--<center>P70-10_11_1-(7-1)-06042020.png</center>-->

Example Deadline Date Delay
+
For the illustration above, Endpoints 1 through 4 are lined up from left to right in each row.

To illustrate the operation of the Color-code delay feature, let's set the stage by supposing that a project of three tasks is has the following initial conditions:
+
Editing Endpoint Properties
:* Project Start Date – 10/1/2019
+
The above section's discussion covered the set up and initial display of endpoints. Recall that endpoint controls are exactly identical to the controls for deadlines.
:* Project Finish Date (Estimated) – 10/18/2019
+
:* First Status Date – 9/11/2019
+
:* Task A Deadline Date – 10/19/2019 (Task A Finish Date projected before Deadline Date)
+
:* Task B Deadline Date – 10/10/2019 (Task B Finish Date beyond Deadline Date)
+
:* Task C Deadline Date- 10/1/2019 (Task C Start Date beyond Deadline Date)
+

With these initial conditions, the Microsoft Project source plan looks like this:
+
For more information on Deadlines, please see the article at: Deadlines for OnePager Pro <!--10.9.1-70-->

<center></center>
+
The exception is only for the necessity to turn ON and OFF the individual endpoints through their respective Show this endpoint checkbox and to enter the Microsoft Project source plan field you need to use for the respective endpoints in the Field dropdown menu of the Set endpoint properties form.
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(9)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

If we take a snapshot using the above source plan as of 10/10/2019 the chart looks like this:
+
Editing Individual Task Endpoint Properties
<center></center>
+
Endpoint properties can be set or edited for individual task bars. In addition to the capabilities for editing all Endpoint properties using the Template Properties and/or Chart Properties forms, you can select and individually edit Endpoint properties showing in the chart. A prerequisite for editing individual endpoint properties is the necessity for endpoint data to be imported from the Microsoft Project source plan.
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(10)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

+
OnePager Express treats the snapshot date similar to the way Microsoft Project treats its Status date field.
+

+
Connecting Lines
+

+
The Connecting Lines control group of the Set deadline properties form deals with connecting lines properties when you require that deadline shapes are tied to their parent task bar/milestone symbol. The controls available are shown below:
+

+
<center></center>
+
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(6)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

+
To enable deadline shape connection lines, check the Connect deadline markers to current markers checkbox ON as shown above. A default color, line style, and line width is established from your current Template. If you wish to specify a custom color, check the Use custom color checkbox ON and use the Custom color dropdown button to access the standard Color Chooser form.
+

+
You also have the option of selecting from a variety of line styles by clicking on the Line style dropdown button.
+

+
There are five (5) standard line styles to select from which are the same as used to connect Baselines to their parent task bars/milestone symbols as described in the section of the article at: Baselines for OnePager Express - Connect Baselines and Actual Task Bar/Milestone Symbols <!--10.6.1-70-->
+

+
The value dial to the right of the Line style dropdown provides the capability to edit the width of the deadline shape connection line. The form above shows the extent of control that you have over the lines that can be used to connect a deadline to its parent task bar/milestone symbol.  These include the specification of a custom color, line width and line style.
+

+
Deadline Dates
+

+
The Deadline Dates control group in the Set deadline properties form provides the controls for turning ON and positioning the deadline date text labels as shown below:
+

+
<center></center>
+
<!--<center>X70-10_10_1-70-(7)-09192019.png</center>-->
+

+
The form above shows the extent of control that you have over the display of date labels for deadlines.  These are the same controls as for other decoration date specifications and include controls for date format, the use of the fiscal year feature, the positioning of the date label text, and the font properties for the date label text.
+

+
For more specific information about the controls in this control group, please reference the corresponding section for Baseline Decorations at: Baselines for OnePager Express - Showing Baseline Dates <!--10.6.1-70-->

Editing Individual Task Deadline Properties
+

+
Deadline displays are normally turned OFF in distributed Template Properties forms. In addition to the capabilities for editing all Deadline properties using the Template Properties and/or Chart Properties forms, you can select and individually edit Deadline properties showing in the chart. As a prerequisite for editing individual deadline properties it is the necessity for deadline data to be imported from the Microsoft Project source plan.
+

The Deadlines tab, shown above controls the display of deadline connectors and deadline text dates for the selected task bar/milestone symbol and the placement of the deadline text dates with respect to the deadline shape. The Show Deadline checkbox allows you to turn ON and OFF the display of deadline information for the selected task bar/milestone symbol. When the Show Deadline checkbox is checked ON, you have the option to specify the display of the connector and the display of deadline date for the selected task bar/milestone symbol. When the Show Deadline Date Label checkbox is checked ON you have access to control over the Deadline Date Position selection dropdown and Deadline Date Font selection button as discussed above related to editing all task bar/milestone symbol deadline information. There are five (5) standard deadline date label positions to select from. Clicking the Deadline Date Font button accesses the standard Font properties form where edits of the deadline date text can be made.
+
From the Endpoints tab of the form above, you are able to turn the selected endpoint ON or OFF, show the endpoint connector to the task bar, and show or hide the endpoint date label text. Recall that selecting a milestone symbol in the manner described above to access its Change Task/Milestone Properties form accesses the version of the form without either the Critical Path or the Endpoints tab as shown here:

The controls at the Deadline tab of the Change Task/Milestone Properties form for the Show Deadline Date, that is, the Position and Font controls operate exactly as described for other start/finish date displays in OnePager.
+
:* Turn OFF the display of Endpoint 1 for Task B
 +
:* Hide the Endpoint connector for Endpoint 1 to Task C
 +
:* Hide the Date Label for Endpoint 4 for Task C under the task

For more information describing the use of these controls for the Percent Complete tab of this form, please see the section in the article at: Percent complete for OnePager Express - Example <!--10.4.1-70-->
+
For each task bar we select the task bar with a right-click to access the task bar right-click context menu, select the Format… command to get to the Change Task/Milestone Properties form, and finally accessed the Endpoints tab. These steps are performed for each of the task bars involved starting with Task B where one edit to Endpoint 1 was made and then to Task C where an edit was made to Endpoints 1 and 4. After making these edits the chart looks like this:

There are no controls available in the Deadline tab of the Change Task/Milestone Properties form to edit the properties of the connector line for an individually selected task bar/milestone symbol.

About Editing Endpoints

There are four (4) endpoints definable in OnePager for each task bar. By definition, milestone symbols in OnePager do not have multiple endpoints. Accordingly, endpoints for milestone symbols are not supported and there is no decoration controls for endpoints in the Template Properties or Chart Properties form's Milestones tab.

The control and the behavior of all four endpoints are identical to that discussed for deadlines.

For more information on Deadlines, please see the article at: Deadlines for OnePager Pro

By convention and as a default, the initial association of Endpoints 1 through 4 are to Microsoft Project source plan fields is as follows:

 • Endpoint 1: Start Date.
 • Endpoint 2: Finish Date.
 • Endpoint 3: Baseline Start Date.
 • Endpoint 4: Baseline Finish Date.

Displaying Endpoints

For OnePager to properly display your endpoints, you must first define the endpoint field in Microsoft Project and map them to OnePager through the OnePager choices (OPC) form. A sample, Microsoft Project source plan is shown below with both deadline and endpoint definitions:

In the sample above, we see the typical task information with Flag20 used to signal OnePager which rows to import, the Microsoft Project Deadline field and four Date fields (Date1, Date2, Date3, and Date4) which are used to import information to OnePager representing Endpoints 1 through 4 respectively.

When the OnePager button is clicked on the Microsoft Project Add-ins tool bar tab and you click the NEW button on the OnePager Pro Start form, OnePager displays the first page of the OPC form as shown below:

Clicking the Next> button with the Show field mappings checkbox checked ON accesses the second page of the OPC form shown below:

P70-10 11 1-(3)-06042020.png

Clicking the Edit current template… button takes you to the Template Properties form. Navigate to the Task Bars tab and the Endpoints checkbox in the Task Bar Decorations control group of the form as shown below:

Check the checkbox to ON and Click the Endpoint Properties..." button to access the Set endpoint properties form shown below where you can set and edit the properties of any one endpoint or all four.

Editing All Endpoint Properties

The Set endpoint properties form is a multi-endpoint form in that using this one form allows you to edit the properties of all four endpoint shapes available for display in the chart.

Set Endpoint Properties Form

Clicking the Endpoint Properties... button accesses the Set endpoint properties form where the Choose endpoint dropdown is shown below allowing you the option to select to edit one of the four available endpoints:

As necessary, repeat the above editing steps for Endpoint 2 through 4 as required such that when the endpoint data are imported into OnePager the endpoint shapes and other properties are unique.

Saving the Current Template Properties Form

Now that the endpoints are defined with distinct properties for all task bars in our example, go back to the Template Properties form, click the Save and use button to get back to the second page of the OPC form. Then, click the Create new chart button and OnePager produces the following chart:

P70-10 11 1-(7-1)-06042020.png

For the illustration above, Endpoints 1 through 4 are lined up from left to right in each row.

Editing Endpoint Properties

The above section's discussion covered the set up and initial display of endpoints. Recall that endpoint controls are exactly identical to the controls for deadlines.

For more information on Deadlines, please see the article at: Deadlines for OnePager Pro

The exception is only for the necessity to turn ON and OFF the individual endpoints through their respective Show this endpoint checkbox and to enter the Microsoft Project source plan field you need to use for the respective endpoints in the Field dropdown menu of the Set endpoint properties form.

Editing Individual Task Endpoint Properties

Endpoint properties can be set or edited for individual task bars. In addition to the capabilities for editing all Endpoint properties using the Template Properties and/or Chart Properties forms, you can select and individually edit Endpoint properties showing in the chart. A prerequisite for editing individual endpoint properties is the necessity for endpoint data to be imported from the Microsoft Project source plan.

Selecting Individual Task Bar or Bars

Individual task bar endpoint properties can be edited by selecting the desired task bar or task bars with a right-click operation to access the task bar right-click context menu and then clicking on the Format... command in the context menu as shown below:

P70-10 11 1-(8)-06042020.png

Before you can do so, you must confirm that the Endpoints checkbox in either the Template Properties or Chart Properties form's Task Bars tab is checked ON.

Accessing the Change Task/Milestone Properties Form

Selecting the Format… command accesses the Change Task/Milestone Properties form. Next, navigate to the Endpoints tab, which displays the endpoint control options shown below:

P70-10 11 1-(9)-06042020.png

From the Endpoints tab of the form above, you are able to turn the selected endpoint ON or OFF, show the endpoint connector to the task bar, and show or hide the endpoint date label text. Recall that selecting a milestone symbol in the manner described above to access its Change Task/Milestone Properties form accesses the version of the form without either the Critical Path or the Endpoints tab as shown here:

Using Endpoints Example

For example, using the Deadlines-Endpoints Example previously illustrated above, suppose we want to make the following edits:

 • Turn OFF the display of Endpoint 1 for Task B
 • Hide the Endpoint connector for Endpoint 1 to Task C
 • Hide the Date Label for Endpoint 4 for Task C under the task

For each task bar we select the task bar with a right-click to access the task bar right-click context menu, select the Format… command to get to the Change Task/Milestone Properties form, and finally accessed the Endpoints tab. These steps are performed for each of the task bars involved starting with Task B where one edit to Endpoint 1 was made and then to Task C where an edit was made to Endpoints 1 and 4. After making these edits the chart looks like this:
