About the Advanced Tab-OnePager Express

1) The Advanced tab controls various other properties of the chart and looks like this:

File:P70-21 13 1-70-(1)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(1)-10312019.png.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

2) The Advanced tab shown above has several control groups that generally group controls by functional area.

3) Each of these control groups and their sub-controls groups are covered in the sub-sections that follow.

Display Options

1) The Display Options group contains a number of checkboxes for making On/Off choices governing features in the Chart Editor, various thresholds, and input/output options.

Show Hover Boxes Checkbox

2) The Show hover boxescheckbox controls the display of detailed information about each task/milestone shape when the mouse cursor hovers over it.

3) This information includes the Start/Finish dates, the task/milestone name, and the Unique-ID of the task from the Microsoft Excel source plan.

4) An example is shown below.

P61-21 13 1-61-(2)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(2)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

Select Associated Text Checkbox

5) OnePager 7.0 provides the Select associated text checkbox control for you to change the response that a left-click on a task shape allowing a single click on the task shape to select both the task shape and its corresponding text label.

6) The Select associated text checkbox is also found in the Template form’s Advanced tab in the Display options control group as shown below for the Chart Properties form:

File:P70-0 4 2 3-70-(11)-06122019.png
P70-0_4_2_3-70-(11)-06122019.png - Replace with Express Screenshot

7) If you mouse over this checkbox the following tool tip appears: When the task/milestone shape is selected, also select all text associated with the shape, including the task name, dates, and percent complete labels. As with all tool tips they are provided to assist you in determining what the control basically does.

8) As an example, the illustration below is a chart portion where there was a left-click on the task shape only when the Select associated text checkbox is checked Off.

P70-0 4 2 3-70-(12)-06122019.png
P70-0_4_2_3-70-(12)-06122019.png - Replace with Express Screenshot

9) Left-clicking the task shape only selects the task shape as shown above.

10) When the task shape is selected in the above example, only the Icons on the Home tool bar tab that are applicable to editing task shapes are enabled. The enabled control groups are: Editing, Settings, Font, and Format.

11) Even with the Select associated text checkbox checked Off, left-clicks on the task shape still allow you to change Font properties but not text label position.

12) You can change text label alignment if the text label is configured such that text label alignment changes are available.

13) However, in the situation described above, where one or more task shapes are left-clicked with the Select associated text checkbox checked Off, you can right-click on any of the selected task shape, access its normal context menu, and use all the commands in the context menu as well as all the tabs available in the Change Task/Milestone Properties form accessed from the Format… command in the context menu.

14) Additionally, you can access the Change Task/Milestone Properties form by clicking the Format… Icon on the Home tool bar tab as shown below:

File:P70-0 4 2 3-70-(13)-06122019.png
P70-0_4_2_3-70-(13)-06122019.png - Replace with Express Screenshot

15) To complete the example, the illustration below is a chart portion where the Select associated text checkbox is checked On, and the task shape is selected with a left-click:

P70-0 4 2 3-70-(14)-06122019.png
P70-0_4_2_3-70-(14)-06122019.png - Replace with Express Screenshot

16) With the Select associated text checkbox checked On, a left-click on the task shape selects the task shape and its text label as shown above.

17) When the task shape and text label are selected in the above example, ALL Icons on the Home tool bar tab that are applicable to editing task shapes and text labels are enabled.

18) The applicable control groups are: Editing, Settings, Font, Format, and Position.

19) The Alignment control group is only enabled if there is an option available to re-align the text label or text labels for selected items.

20) Essentially, checking the Select associated text checkbox On makes the OnePager 7.0 behavior relative to left-clicking of task shapes or text labels operate the same as left-clicking only the task shape in previous versions of OnePager.

21) You can right-click on either the task shape or text label in this situation and the appropriate context menu is accessed and all associated commands operate as documented including gaining access to the Change Task/Milestone Properties form.

22) OnePager 7.0, regardless of the status of the Select associated text status of checked On or checked Off, permits you to right-click on any previously selected task shape or text label and accesses any of the context menu commands.

Format With Times Checkbox

23) When the Format with timescheckbox is checked On, the snapshot dates are displayed with a time of day component.

24) Snapshot dates that differ by their time of day component are considered different snapshot dates.

a) For example, June 5, 2019 becomes June 5, 2019 5:23 PM and is a different snapshot date than June 5, 2019 6:00 PM. - Replace with Express Screenshot
b) Note that this setting no longer controls the format of the dates on the tasks and milestone shapes.
c) Below is an example of the Select Snapshot form displaying the date format with time:
P61-21 13 1-61-(3)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(3)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

25) When the Show time cursorcheckbox is checked On, the vertical time-cursor line is shown as shown here:

P61-21 13 1-61-(4)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(4)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot
a) Checking the Show time cursor checkbox Off, hides the vertical time-cursor line.
b) There is also a checkbox in the OnePager Express View ribbon in the Graphic Elements group called Time Cursor that causes the vertical time-cursor line to be shown when the checkbox is checked On as shown below:
File:P70-21 13 1-70-(5)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(5)-10312019.png>v

Allow Absorption Checkbox

26) When the Allow absorption checkbox is checked On, you can drag one task onto another task and be prompted to absorb the former into the latter.

27) When the checkbox is checked Off, this process does not take place and one task dragged over another is displayed as two separate tasks superimposed.

28) For more information on Absorbed Tasks please see the article at: Absorbing one task into another. 17.0.1-70

Show Absorbed Dates Checkbox

29) When the Show absorbed dates checkbox is checked ON OnePager Express creates a Comment box associated with the absorbed task connected to the task absorbing the absorbed task and provides you the option of specifying the date displayed in the Comment box as shown below:

P61-21 13 1-61-(6)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(6)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot
a) The illustration above show the result of absorbing the first task where a Comment box is displayed connected to the absorbing task.
b) Also shown in the illustration above is a second task in the process of being absorbed where the Absorption Options form is shown. Making a selection from the radio buttons and clicking OK creates the second Comment box.
c) You have the option to display the At end date, At start date, or At both start and end date.

30) For more information please see the article at this link: Absorbing one task into another. 17.0.1-70

Copy Edits To All Snapshots Checkbox

31) The Copy edits to all snapshots (CTAS) checkbox is a toggle switch that turns On and Off the propagation of Maverick changes to all snapshots (turned ON) or to keep maverick changes to tasks/milestones in the current snapshot (turned OFF).

32) This checkbox affects editing of these task/milestone shape properties: (1) Color, (2) Shape, (2) Fill Pattern, (3) Border, (4) Text Font, (5) Task/milestone height, (6) Task Links

33) For more information on how CTAS applies to the new Task Links feature in OnePager Pro, please see the section at: Data-Driven Task Links for OnePager Express - Condition 2: The Copy Edits to All Snapshots (CTAS) Feature and Data-Driven Task Links. 19.1.1.2-70

Clip Task/Milestone Labels at Graph Edges Checkbox

34) When the Clip task/milestone labels at graph edges checkbox is checked On, OnePager Express clips all task/milestone labels that extend over the edge of the graph so that the labels no longer extend over the graph boundaries.

a) The chart below shows how OnePager Express handles task/milestone labels that extend into the displayed Row/Swimlane label area when the checkbox is checked On:
P61-21 13 1-61-(7)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(7)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot
b) Here is the same chart with the checkbox checked Off:
P61-21 13 1-61-(8)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(8)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

Overlay VST Elements Checkbox

35) When the Overlay VST elementscheckbox is checked On during the construction of a Virtual Summary Task (VST) with milestone shapes, the milestone shapes are displayed on top of the created VST bar.

36) An example is provided below:

P61-21 13 1-61-(9)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(9)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

37) See the article at this link for more information: Creating and Managing Virtual Summary Tasks. 18.0.1-70

Lock Background Checkbox

38) When the Lock background checkbox is checked On, all Background shapes are frozen.

a) This includes these elements: images, swimlane titles, graph title, and time axis annotation.
b) Clicking any of these elements with the mouse no longer selects them, so it becomes easier to select tasks and milestone shapes with the selection lasso.

Task/Milestone Threshold

1) This numeric window controls whether short duration tasks are displayed as task bars or as milestone symbols.

2) The unit of measure is task bar duration in number of days.

3) With the setting shown in the Chart Properties form at the top of this article of two (2) days, any task in the chart that is less than two (2) days duration is displayed as a milestone symbol.

4) Therefore, one day tasks are displayed as milestones symbols with the default settings of two (2) days.

5) Since no duration can be less than zero (0), setting the parameter to zero (0) turns Off all conversion of tasks into milestones symbols, which means that you can see task bars with very small width, which makes them very hard to see and to select.

Warn If Import Exceeds

1) This checkbox tells OnePager to provide a warning message if the number of task/milestone shapes imported exceeds the quantity set in the adjacent window.

2) Recall that OnePager has the capability to make multiple pages of output both vertically and horizontally.

3) The warning message example below is configured so that it can issue the warning if more than 10 tasks were imported.

P61-21 13 1-61-(10)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(10)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

Warn Of Merging Tasks

1) The checkbox shown in the Advanced tab at the beginning of this article is accompanied by a Warning options button.

2) When this checkbox is checked On, the Warning options button is enabled.

3) Clicking the Warning options button accesses the Set warning thresholds form shown below:

P61-21 13 1-61-(11)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(11)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

4) This form allows you to set your own parameters for when you wish to be warned if too many extra tasks are being merged or too many tasks are missing.

5) Setting these percentages to 100% has the impact of turning the fixes and warning Off.

6) Setting the percentages to 0% provides an assurance that any extra or missing tasks triggers the fixes and warnings.

7) When this checkbox is checked On, OnePager Express looks to see if too many newly introduced task/milestone shapes are being imported when updating a snapshot or if too many tasks are missing per the thresholds set in the form above.

8) After making the calculation, OnePager Express provides a warning message asking if you want to proceed with the update of the snapshot or not.

9) Additionally, the warning message also give you access to the See Extra and Missing Tasks form so you can make a fix if desired.

10) The warning message example below was configured so that it issues the warning if more than 45 percent of the tasks differ from those of the current chart.

P61-21 13 1-61-(12)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(12)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

11) For more information on how to make fixes to these situations please go to this article: Merging the Wrong Tasks into a Chart - OnePager Express. 7.12.1-70

Merge Tasks On Snapshot Replacement

1) The Merge tasks on snapshot replacement checkbox is enabled so that it can be used from the Chart Properties form as well as the Template form.

2) This control is enabled in the Template form's Advanced tab.

3) To avoid confusing OnePager Express when importing additional Microsoft Excel source plans during the Replace operation, it is necessary for this feature to be On and functioning.

4) The reason for this is that the tasks being imported from the second Microsoft Excel source plan in the Replace function have the same Unique ID or Task ID numbers as the tasks from the first Microsoft Excel source plan.

5) OnePager Excel can be fooled into thinking that these are the same tasks (coming in from the second Microsoft Excel source plan) are from the first Microsoft Excel source plan when they are clearly not.

6) Having the Merge tasks on snapshot replacement checkbox checked On in the Template form's Advanced tab avoids confusing the identity of replacement tasks in the Replace snapshot function.

Task Representation

1) The Task representation control group consists of three radio buttons as shown below:

File:P70-21 13 1-70-(6)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(6)-10312019.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

2) These radio buttons let you select how a task is represented: as a task by a Gantt bar/Task bar or by a Milestone at the start or end date of the task.

Gantt Bar/Task Bar Radio Button

3) Below is an example of a portion of a chart with tasks represented as Gantt bars/Task bars:

P61-21 13 1-61-(13)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(13)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

Milestone At Start Radio Button

4) If the Milestone at start radio button is clicked On and the tab's OK or Apply button is clicked, the portion of the chart looks like this:

P61-21 13 1-61-(14)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(14)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

Milestone At End Radio Button

5) If the Milestones at end radio button is clicked On and the tab's OK or Apply button is clicked, the portion of the chart in the above illustration changes to look like this:

P61-21 13 1-61-(15)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(15)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

6) Making the selection in the Chart Properties form changes all tasks in the chart to the selected option.

7) You can individually maverick a task/milestone shape by selecting it with a right-click and use the Format ... Command in the Context Menu to access the Change task/milestone properties form to change the shape at the Format tab.

Default Snapshot Date

1) The Default Snapshot Date control group consists of four radio buttons as shown below:

File:P70-21 13 1-70-(7)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(7)-10312019.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

2) OnePager establishes the default date of the snapshot based upon data imported from the Microsoft Excel source plan.

3) You can, of course, change the snapshot date to a value different from the default date in the OnePager Choices form.

4) In this control group you have four (4) options for setting the basis for the default snapshot date that is used for all snapshots created for this chart:

Last-Modified Date Radio Button

5) This is the date that the Microsoft Excel source plan file was last modified.

Current Date Radio Button

6) This date is the date when you imported the data from your Microsoft Excel source plan into OnePager to create the snapshot.

Sheet Name (Then Last Modified) Radio Button

7) This is the name of the Sheet name tab in the Microsoft Excel source plan.

8) If there is no value for the Sheet name tab in the Microsoft Excel source plan, OnePager Express uses the Last-Modified date for the source plan's file.

Sheet Name (Then Current) Radio Button

9) This is the name of the Sheet name tab in the Microsoft Excel source plan.

10) If there is no value for the Sheet name tab in the Microsoft Excel source plan, OnePager Express uses the current date.

Row hiding options

1) The controls in this group govern the operation of automatic hiding (cropping) of rows. Access to the Row Hiding Options form is by clicking the Row hiding options button in the Chart Properties form's Advanced tab as shown below:

File:P70-21 13 1-70-(8)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(8)-10312019.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

2) When the Row hiding options button is clicked, the Row Hiding Options form shown below appears providing you with four (4) options to select:

P61-21 13 1-61-(18)-11112018.png
<P61-21_13_1-61-(18)-11112018.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

Look At Current Snapshot Only Checkbox

3) When this checkbox is checked On, OnePager Express only examines the current snapshot when deciding which rows are empty.

4) When this checkbox is Off, OnePager Express considers a row empty only if it is unoccupied across all snapshots.

5) In either case, the auto-row hiding action hides rows in all snapshots.

Hide Newly-Empty Rows On Import Checkbox

6) When this checkbox is checked On, OnePager Express automatically hides any rows that becomes empty because tasks are missing when you UPDATE a chart.

7) When this checkbox is OFF, OnePager Express leaves any empty rows that became empty because of such missing tasks.

Unhide Rows for Flagged Tasks/Milestones Checkbox

8) When this checkbox is checked On, OnePager Express automatically unhides hidden rows if they contain any of the tasks/milestones that are flagged for import on the current snapshot.

9) If the checkbox is Off, OnePager Express continues to hide previously hidden rows.

Hide Rows When Tasks Are Outside Date Range Checkbox

10) When this option is selected, OnePager Express automatically hides any empty rows where tasks and/or milestone shapes are outside the Start date and End date established for the chart.

11) The Start date and End date settings are either generated by OnePager Express based upon the range of dates provided from the source packet, set in the Chart Properties form Time Axis tab's Calendar sub-tab, or set in the OnePager Express View ribbon tab in the Dates control group.

Accessing the Where's My Stuff?! Form

12) When tasks and their respective rows are hidden and subsequently cropped, the Where’s My Stuff?! form can be accessed from the OnePager Express ribbon’s Home tab in the Editing group and shown here:

File:P70-21 13 1-70-(9-1)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(9-1)-10312019.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

13) For more information on the Where's My Stuff?! feature please see the article at: Managing Hidden Tasks and Milestones Using "Where's My Stuff?!". 9.4.1-70

Clipboard Format

1) The default clipboard format is Vector EMF (Enhanced Meta File).

2) Essentially, this format is vector output with capabilities to retain high quality resolution when moving from the chart snapshot to Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, or email messages.

3) Although the default option is EMF format, you can change the default to the alternative option of Image PNG as shown below:

File:P70-21 13 1-70-(11)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(11)-10312019.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

Image file DPI

1) This control provides the capability for you to select between three DPI settings when outputting images from OnePager Express 7.0 to other media.

2) The selection options are 96 DPI, 200 DPI, and 300 DPI as shown below:

File:P70-21 13 1-70-(12)-10312019.png
<P70-21_13_1-70-(12)-10312019.png> - Replace with Express Screenshot

3) For more information on image outputs from OnePager Express 7.0, please the articles at: Managing Chart Data (Portal) 23.0.1-70 and specifically the section at: Sharing an Image. 23.2.1-70
