What is a Template Properties Form?
+
This article provides links to articles which cover the specifics on Creating new chart, Retrieving existing charts, and Saving charts.  Please use the links below as they apply to the OnePager products and operations you want to perform.

For OnePager, a Template Properties form is a general set of style rules that can be used to create different charts. For example, if you have several projects and need to create the same style of report for each one, a Template Properties form allows you to create a single style that can be applied across multiple charts. It is the Template Properties form from which a new chart is created and from which all of the settings in the Chart Properties form are initially populated.  The Template Properties form is also the place where you have the largest number of Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plan fields from which to import into OnePager. A Template Properties form is a great way to achieve standardization across projects and across team members!
+
Creating NEW Charts
If everyone starts with the same Template Properties form, then the resulting charts adheres to standards that make it much easier for your audiences to digest. For more information on the differences between a Template and a chart, please see the article at: Templates versus Charts <!--4.0.1.3-70-->
+
There are several ways to create NEW charts with OnePager Pro and OnePager Express.  OnePager is designed to support these two methods for creating NEW for each product:  (1) Push and (2) Pull Operations.

Managing Template Properties Forms
+
Pleases refer to the referenced articles below:

+
Standard Template Properties forms are distributed with OnePager and installed on your computer. These standard Template Properties form options, when selected, can create various visual presentations of your Microsoft Project or Excel data that can meet your schedule discussion needs.  The standard Template Properties form can also form starting points for you to create your own Template Properties forms which, in turn, create chart visualizations of project data specifically tailored to your presentations. The distributed standard Template Properties forms, for the most part, contain the same controls and options as the Chart Properties form that is the computer data representation of the chart managed by the Chart Editor. There are, however, differences in the content, controls, and features between OnePager Template Properties forms and the Chart Properties forms. For more instructions on Template Properties form only features, please see the articles shown in the links below:

Customizing the OnePager Template Properties Form
+
<center>
 +
REPLACING a Snapshot Using the Pull Operation
The Template Properties form has the same tabs as the Chart Properties form and on each tab, for the most part, the controls on the Template Properties form mirror those on the Chart Properties form. You can customize any distributed Template Properties form to have your charts start out with a common look and use a standard set of Microsoft Project fields. For OPX this also applies to Microsoft Excel fields. Editing within the Template Properties form involves accessing the specific tab and using the control group controls within the tab to change the settings and checkboxes to meet you visualizations intent.

Similarity to the Chart Properties Form
+
Using OnePager Pro with Server Resident Source Plans
Since the Template Properties form's controls are so similar to those of the Chart Properties form, we recommend that you reference the articles dealing with Editing the Chart Properties form at:  Editing with the Chart Properties form (Portal) <!--21.0.1-70-->
+
OnePager Pro has the capability to create, retrieve, save, and update charts from Microsoft Project source plans that are server resident.

Special Features on the Template Properties Form
+
For more general information on using server resident source plans, please see the article at: Using OnePager Pro with Server Resident Project Plans (Portal) <!--8.5.1-70-->

There are three (3) special feature controls on the Template Properties form that need to be set in the current Template Properties form if the feature is to be used in the creation and subsequent update of charts.
+
Please use the links that follow for specific product information related to using server resident source plans:

+
Enterprise Custom Fields
+

+
For OnePager Pro only, the product supports access to Enterprise Custom Fields that typically reside in an enterprise server. All OnePager Pro Template Properties forms have controls for accessing these Enterprise Custom Fields. For more information on the access and use of Enterprise Custom Fields for OnePager Pro, please see the article at:

Field Splitting and Column Parsing
+
Updating Using the OnePager Data Tab
The Field Splitting feature allows you to duplicate tasks when a tasks in your Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel source plans are assigned to multiple resources (or anything else). Because assignments from Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel can often be comma-delimited, this feature enables OnePager to parse the comma-delimited list and create a unique task for each instance in the comma-separated list. If you anticipate using the Field Splitting and Column Parsing feature of OnePager Pro or Express, there are setup requirements to be made in the OnePager Pro or Express Template Properties form you intend to use. For more information on setting up the Field Splitting and Column features for OnePager Pro and Express, please see the articles at:
+
The OnePager Data ribbon tool bar tab’s Selected file(s) button, shown below, is useful in verifying that you have the correct source plans associated with the open chart is/are correct.

Managing the Current Template Properties Form
+
For more information on the Data tab's Selected file(s) button, please see the article at: Using the OnePager "Data" Tab's "Selected file(s)" Button <!--7.17.1-70-->

As mentioned, Template Properties forms are key to managing a standard look and feel for charts produced by individuals and organizations when communicating schedule issues. This being the case, the management of Template Properties forms as objects is an important subject that is presented in the article at:
+
Saving a Chart (Save)
<center>
+
When a chart is created, opened, or updated, as with other Microsoft Windows applications, the chart can be saved in four (4) ways:

Using the Save Icon
Templates versus Charts <!--4.0.1.3-70-->
+
Above the OnePager tool bar and ribbon is a Save icon shown below:

Editing with the Chart Properties form (Portal) <!--21.0.1-70-->
+
<center></center>

Template Only Features-OnePager Pro <!--24.1.1-70-->
+
When the Save icon is clicked, OnePager automatically saves the open chart in the .TAM file you named when the chart was first created (NEW).   If the chart has not yet been saved, you are prompted to create a .TAM file name for it.

Template Only Features-OnePager Express <!--24.2.1-70-->
+
Using File Tab's Save Button
Using Enterprise Custom Fields from Microsoft Project for OnePager Pro <!--24.3.1-70-->
+
A second way to save an open chart is to click the File tab as shown below:

Splitting and Parsing Fields-OnePager Pro <!--24.4.1-70-->
+
<center></center>

Splitting and Parsing Fields-OnePager Express <!--24.5.1-70-->
+
If the .TAM was not previously saved, OnePager returns to the Chart Editor and opens the OnePager Save As form so you can create a name for the .TAM.  If the .TAM was previously saved using this method, OnePager again saves the .TAM under the previously created file name.

(24.0.1-70)
+
Prompting the Save Operation By Clicking the File Tab's Close Button
 +

 +
A third way to cause the chart to be saved is to click the Close tab shown above which is the typical Microsoft Windows method for closing the application.  If no changes were made to an open chart that was previously saved or opened from a named .TAM, the application is closed without re-saving the open .TAM.  However, if changes were made to the chart during the session, a Chronicle Graphics message form is displayed giving you the option to save the chart:
 +

 +
<center></center>
 +
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(4)-11272020.png</center>-->
 +

 +
Prompting the Save Operation by Clicking the X in the Upper Right-Most Corner of the Chart Editor
 +

 +
Finally, you can always force the saving of the chart if changes were made by clicking the red highlighted X in the upper-most right corner of the Chart Editor.  Again, if no changes were made the application is close.  If changes were made to the chart, the above message is displayed with the options shown.
 +

 +
Saving a Chart to a New .TAM File (Save As)
 +

 +
At some point, you want to create one or more additional charts that show the same imported data in a different way.
 +

 +
2) For example, you want to assign colors based on a different source plan data fields.  Or you want to show critical path segments in one chart and not in another.  Please note Saving a chart as a new .TAM file is not the same as creating a Template.
 +

 +
For more information on using Templates, please see the article at: Managing Templates (Portal) <!--24.0.1-70-->
 +

 +
Using Save As
 +

 +
To create a new chart name and .TAM file from an existing one, go to the OnePager ribbon, click the File button that takes you to the screen below then click the Save as… command tab on the left.  This action accesses the Save As chart form as shown below:
 +

 +
<center></center>
 +
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(5)-11272020.png</center>-->
 +

 +
Retrieving a Saved As File
 +

 +
Whenever you launch OnePager again and want to OPEN this file, it can be found by clicking the OPEN button in the OnePager Pro Start form, then clicking BROWSE FILES button and looking up the file in the Microsoft Windows Open form as shown below:
 +

 +
<center></center>
 +
<!--<center>P70-23_1_1-70-(6-2)-11272020.png</center>-->
 +

 +
Selecting the file with a single left click and then clicking the Open button loads the file.

Updating Using the OnePager Data Tab

The OnePager Data ribbon tool bar tab’s Selected file(s) button, shown below, is useful in verifying that you have the correct source plans associated with the open chart is/are correct.

Saving a Chart (Save)

When a chart is created, opened, or updated, as with other Microsoft Windows applications, the chart can be saved in four (4) ways:

Using the Save Icon

Above the OnePager tool bar and ribbon is a Save icon shown below:

When the Save icon is clicked, OnePager automatically saves the open chart in the .TAM file you named when the chart was first created (NEW). If the chart has not yet been saved, you are prompted to create a .TAM file name for it.

Using File Tab's Save Button

A second way to save an open chart is to click the File tab as shown below:

If the .TAM was not previously saved, OnePager returns to the Chart Editor and opens the OnePager Save As form so you can create a name for the .TAM. If the .TAM was previously saved using this method, OnePager again saves the .TAM under the previously created file name.

Prompting the Save Operation By Clicking the File Tab's Close Button

A third way to cause the chart to be saved is to click the Close tab shown above which is the typical Microsoft Windows method for closing the application. If no changes were made to an open chart that was previously saved or opened from a named .TAM, the application is closed without re-saving the open .TAM. However, if changes were made to the chart during the session, a Chronicle Graphics message form is displayed giving you the option to save the chart:

Prompting the Save Operation by Clicking the X in the Upper Right-Most Corner of the Chart Editor

Finally, you can always force the saving of the chart if changes were made by clicking the red highlighted X in the upper-most right corner of the Chart Editor. Again, if no changes were made the application is close. If changes were made to the chart, the above message is displayed with the options shown.

Saving a Chart to a New .TAM File (Save As)

At some point, you want to create one or more additional charts that show the same imported data in a different way.

2) For example, you want to assign colors based on a different source plan data fields. Or you want to show critical path segments in one chart and not in another. Please note Saving a chart as a new .TAM file is not the same as creating a Template.

For more information on using Templates, please see the article at: Managing Templates (Portal)

Using Save As

To create a new chart name and .TAM file from an existing one, go to the OnePager ribbon, click the File button that takes you to the screen below then click the Save as… command tab on the left. This action accesses the Save As chart form as shown below:

Retrieving a Saved As File

Whenever you launch OnePager again and want to OPEN this file, it can be found by clicking the OPEN button in the OnePager Pro Start form, then clicking BROWSE FILES button and looking up the file in the Microsoft Windows Open form as shown below:

Selecting the file with a single left click and then clicking the Open button loads the file.
