Managing Graph Border Properties in OnePager for Version 8.0 (P80-7_3_25_7-80-04152026.docx)

Introduction to Graph Border Properties Controls

Illustrations used in this article are from OnePager Pro Add-in and Standalone using data from Microsoft Project, however, Graphs & Data Cells features, functions, controls, and editing apply equally to all OnePager Add-in and Standalone editions that import from data sources like Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, Oracle Primavera P6, Planisware Enterprise, Asana, and Wrike. At present Microsoft Planner source plans do not provide time-series data that can be processed and displayed by the Graphs & Data Cells feature of OnePager.

This article and the articles linked from here describe OnePager’s Graphs & Data Cells feature which provides you with the capabilities to show graphs of time-series data (e.g., Cost data) in graphic forms along with your Gantt/Timeline Charts. Additionally, the Graphs & Data Cells feature also provides you with the ability to show time-series data (e.g., Cost data) imported from your source plan in tabular forms.

This article describes the controls in the Graph Elements control group of the Chart Properties form’s Graphs & Data Cells tab for managing and editing a Graph’s Borders as shown below:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(1-2)-03102026.png

The Graph Elements control group shown above for the Chart Properties form has four controls that are applied to each Panel and Series within Panels. The four controls are enabled by checking the corresponding control checkbox ''''ON or disabled by clicking the corresponding checkbox OFF. By default, three of the controls Graph Elements control group checkboxes are checked ON where the only exception is the X-Axis Properties checkbox where the default is disabled.

Of interest in this article is the Borders Properties sub-control group highlighted above. This sub-control group provides access to the controls that define, manage, and edit the Borders for the Panel and all the Series that are enabled. In order to access the Borders Properties’ controls, it is necessary to check the Border checkbox ON to the left of the Border Properties button. Once checked ON, the Border Properties button is enabled and when clicked accesses the Panel’s Graph Borders Properties – Panel #n form shown below:

About Graph Panel Borders and the Chart

Review of OnePager Component Borders

In OnePager Charts you have component borders available to clearly establish separations between the various components. For Example, there are Inner and Outer Borders that are established in Main tab of the Chart Properties form for the current Chart and the Main tab of the Template Properties form for future Charts.

Additionally, there are Border controls to manage and edit the following Chart components:

1) Chart Inner and Outer Frame Borders
2) Time Axis Level Borders including Floating Time Axis Borders
3) Row and Swimlane Borders
4) Task Bars and Milestone Symbol Borders
5) Quasi Borders for Comment Boxes, Free Boxes, and Curtains (Including Time-Axis Curtains, Inserted Curtains, and Daily Curtains)
6) Graphs and Data Cells Borders

For more information on the above Border components, please see the articles listed in the table below:

Row and Swimlane Borders 12.04.1-80
Creating and Managing Comment Boxes 13.0.1-80
Creating and Managing Free Boxes 14.0.1-80
Main Tab - Borders, Frame, and Time-cursor Properties 21.1.1-80
Changing the Time Axis Borders 22.1.7-80
Creating, Editing, and Managing Time Axis Daily Curtains 22.5.5-80
Managing Inserted Curtains 22.5.7-80

Managing Adjacent Time Axis and Panel Graph Borders

In the context of Graphs & Data Cells and their Borders it is important to remember the relationship between Graph & Data Cell Borders and those of the Bottom or Top Time Axis Borders in the Chart. This is important because most often, you are likely to have Graphs & Data Cell Panels at the top of the Chart and at least one Graph Panel immediately adjacent to the Bottom Time Axis Level’s Border. Graphs & Data Cell Panels can also be positioned at the bottom of the Chart as can Time Axis Levels and their Borders.

Given these juxtapositions, adding accented Borders to both the bottom of the Bottom Time Axis Level and the top of the Top most Panel positioned at the Top of the Chart for a Graph or Data Cell is likely to cause the overlay of the two Borders as shown below in the following two illustrations:

First Step: Add an accented Border to the bottom of the Bottom Level Time Axis.

Accented Border Added to the Bottom Border of the Bottom Level Time Axis

Second Step: Create a Cost Line Graph on a Quarterly basis in the Chart:

Graph Panel #1 Added to the Chart without Specific Panel #1 Graph Borders
P80-7_3_25_7-80-(2B-2)-03102026.png

Finally access the Graph Borders – Panel #1 form shown below and establish a Blue color oversized and dotted Border for the Panel #1’s Top Border, the Chart looks like this:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(2C-3)-04012026.png

For a closer view of the overlaid Borders see the illustration below:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(2D)-07132025.png

Graph Panel Borders – Single Graph Panel in the Chart

To clearly identify the Panel’s Top and Bottom Borders it would be illustrative to accent them by coloring them red, increasing their Width to 3.0 and changing their Style to the Dot type. This accented Panel #1 border illustration is provided below:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(3-2)-04012025.png

The Panel’s Top and Bottom Borders are clearly shown in the illustration above along with the setting made in the Panel’s Graph Border – Panel #1 form. To retain this accent it is important to suppress any accented Borders associated with the bottom of the Bottom Level Time Axis.

Graph Panel Borders – Multiple Graph Panel in the Chart

When there are multiple Panels in the Chart, the Bottom Border of the top Panel and the Top Border of the bottom Panel share a Border. The illustration below shows Panel #1 for Cost as the top Panel with accented Red – Dot Borders and Panel #2 for Work as the bottom Panel with accented Green – Dash-dot Borders.

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(4)-07122025.png

When multiple Panels are enabled, OnePager attempts to show both Panels’ Border settings at the junction of Bottom and Top Borders as shown above. As discussed previously, about the juxtaposition of a Graph Panel’s Borders with the bottom of the Bottom Time Axis Level, it is important to properly manage the Border setting between Panels if you want to avoid the above situation showing overlaid accented Borders.

Graph Panel Borders – Y-Axis and X-Axis Tic-Lines

Regardless of which or how many Panels are shown in the Graph areas, the Y-Axis Tic-Line and the X-Axis Tic-Line is always fixed at Black Color, 1.0 Width and Solid Dash-Type as shown below:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(4A)-04012026.png

Graph Border Properties – Panel #n Form – Top and Bottom Borders

The Graph Borders Properties – Panel #n form has one control group with two (2) sets of controls as shown below. The default setting, shown in the illustration below, call for the Panel’s Top Border and Bottom Border to be enabled with the black color. The Width and Style default settings are 1.00 and Solid respectively.

The default Graph Borders Properties – Panel #1 form is shown below:

File:P80-7 3 25 7-80-(5-1)-04012026png
P80-7_3_25_7-80-(5-1)-04012026.png

When these settings are applied, the Chart area and the Graph area looks like this:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(6)-07122025.png

Top and Bottom Borders – Show lines Controls (Top and Bottom)

The default setting for Graph Border Properties – Panel #n form’s Show lines checkbox is checked ON. Unchecking the Show lines checkbox to OFF for either the Top Border or the Bottom Border results in hiding the Border as shown here:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(7-1)-04012026.png

The illustration above requires some further explanation. First, the illustration clearly shows that the Bottom Border of the Panel #1’s Graph Area is hidden. However, looking at the Top Border for Graph Panel #1 the illustration shows that there remains a horizontal Border line at the Top of Panel #1’s Graph area. It turns out that this horizontal line is both the Bottom Border for the Lower Level Time Axis and the top horizontal line for the Inner Frame. If you desire to hide the Top Border for Graph Panel #1’s Border, this case requires that you also hide the two other Border lines for the Lower Level Time Axis and the Inner Frame.

Top and Bottom Borders – Color Controls (Top and Bottom)

For both the Top and Bottom Borders, clicking the Color dropdown accesses the standard OnePager Color Chooser form as shown below:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(9-1)-04012026.png

As an illustration, if we select the color Red for the Top Border, the Chart and Graph area for Graph Panel #1 looks like this:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(10)-07122025.png

All controls available in the standard OnePager Color Chooser form can be applied to the Graph Panel’s Top and Bottom Borders.

Top and Bottom Borders – Width Controls (Top and Bottom)

The illustration above can be further accented by increasing the Width of the Top or Bottom Panel Borders or both by increasing the numeric value in with Width window as shown below where the Width value is increased to 3.0:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(11)-07122025.png

Top and Bottom Borders – Style Controls (Top and Bottom)

The illustration above can be further accented by changing the Style: configuration of the Top or Bottom Panel Borders or both by clicking the Style window to access the five (5) Style options as shown below where the Style selected is the Solid option:

P80-7_3_25_7-80-(12-3)-03102026.png

The Chart illustration above is completed by selecting the Line Style of Solid for the Graph Panel #1’s Top Border as shown below:
