Snapshot-Dependent Graphs & Data Cells in OnePager for Version 8.0
Introduction to the Snapshot-Dependency of Graphs & Data Cells
Illustrations used in this article are from OnePager Pro Add-in and Standalone using data from Microsoft Project, however, Graphs & Data Cells features, functions, controls, and editing apply equally to all OnePager Add-in and Standalone editions that import from data sources like Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, Oracle Primavera P6, Planisware Enterprise, Asana, and Wrike. At present Microsoft Planner source plans do not provide time-series data that can be processed and displayed by the Graphs & Data Cells feature of OnePager.
This article and the articles linked from here describe OnePager’s Graphs & Data Cells feature which provides you with the capabilities to show graphs of time-series data (e.g., Cost data) in graphic forms along with your Gantt/Timeline Charts. Additionally, the Graphs & Data Cells feature also provides you with the ability to show time-series data (e.g., Cost data) imported from your source plan in tabular forms.
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the snapshot-dependency of Graphs & Data Cells in OnePager Charts.

Definitions
By snapshot-dependent we mean that the values (i.e., Graph or Data Cell Values) can change from one snapshot to another as the underlying project source plan data field contents change. Other properties of Graphs & Data Cells are snapshot-independent, that is, they remain the same from snapshot to snapshot.
The focus of this article is on Values in Graph & Data Cells when using OnePager to show these Value changes as they are made to a source plan on a regular basis. OnePager can add snapshots to the Chart produced from the updated data of the current source plan. Additionally, OnePager supports changes to existing snapshots if source plan data represented by an existing snapshot happens to change.
Perhaps the best way to describe snapshot-dependency for Graphs & Data Cells is to show examples. In the sections that follow, first Graphs are used for these examples and then Data Cells.
Snapshot-Dependency of Graph Data Values
Assuming that a project accumulates Cost as it execution progresses over time, Graphs of the project update as the data change.
Getting Started – Snapshot 1 – 3/7/2025 (Graphs Example)
With this in mind, please examine the hypothetical project source plan below which is set up to show Estimated Cost and Estimated Work and Actual Cost and Actual Work at the start of the project.

The two estimated and two actual columns are referenced in the above illustration. For simplicity, the Cost and Work Text Columns are going to remain fixed throughout the example. The initial OnePager Chart obtained from the Product Launch source plan looks like this when taken at the beginning of the project on 3/7/2025:

The OnePager Chart above shows four text columns with the two on the left Estimated Cost and Estimated Work fields and the two on the right Actual Cost and Actual Work fields. The snapshot above is the first in the series with a Snapshot Date of 3/7/2025.
Adding Graphs to Snapshot 1 – 3/7/2025 (Graphs Example)
We can also add two graphs to the chart: one for Cost and one for Work:

Updates for Next Snapshot – Snapshot 2 – 9/7/2025 (Graphs Example)
Continuing on with the example after establishing Snapshot 1, we can update the underlying source plan through the next six months in preparation for taking a second snapshot on 9/7/2025:

During the six month period, Actual Cost and Actual Work values changed.
When OnePager adds Snapshot 2 to the chart on 9/7/2025, the Chart looks like this:

Updates for Next Snapshot – Snapshot 3 – 3/7/2026 (Graphs Example)
Following the project six (6) months further along in delivery to 3/7/2026, we see the following additional changes to Actual Cost and Actual Work:

Updating the OnePager Chart creates Snapshot 3 on 3/7/2026 and the Chart looks like this:

Recall that the Actual Cost Values and Actual Work Values are represented in the above Charts as quantities at Month intervals. As the Graph areas indicate in the Chart above, the Product Launch project appears to be coming in under Estimated Cost and Estimated Work or Work hours. For the purpose of this example, this is not surprising since we are using the Product Launch source plan’s %Complete data to cause the Actual Cost and Actual Work values to be set in the source plan.

Snapshot-Dependency of Data Cell Values
If you are entering this article at this internal link, please review the previous major section of this article discussing the Snapshot-Dependency of Graph Data Values at the link provided in the table below:
| Snapshot-Dependency of Graph Data Values |
OnePager supports multiple snapshots for Data Cells in the exact same manner as for Graphs & Data Cells.
Summary
OnePager’s Graphs and Data Cells can display data that varies from one snapshot to the next. As a project evolves during its execution, you can add snapshots that will automatically update Graphs and Data Cells to reflect changes to Cost, Work, or other numeric data.
